Fuck if I know, but the first game was great (you bullied Injuns into slavery or death as Spanish Conquiscadors) and delved heavily into mythology, as well as giving you lots of freedom in what to do, who to support, who to betray, etc. Expeditions: Viking is the sequel and will hopefully be just as good.

There's a couple pozzed moments in the game, like some strong teenage female indian that wants to join your part because reasons but you can tell her to fuck off. For the most part the game is pretty good, and you're often rewarded for just genociding the natives if that's what you wanna do.

Sacrificing characters for rewards was the only reason to recruit natives, tbh. What I liked the most, though, was that whenever a native party member died, the racist members got a morale boost

Yeah if you like turn-based hexagon combat, it's a pretty good game. It also does branching storylines better than most games that sell themselves on that aspect, and the different endings are good too. Though of course the best is to triple cross the Aztecs and some other native tribe, making them wipe each other out each thinking you're their friend, then you colonize the whole area for Spain and fuck them all over. At times you get whiffs of lefty bullshit but at least a few of the team either had their hearts in the right place or just did a very good job at being impartial and actually gave the player a choice of being a xenophile or a diehard racist.

This. In Conquiscadors, you pretty much only encountered lefty shit if you played it like a lefty. When I filled my party with racists and went on to remove redskins, I encountered very few instances of fairly mild poz, usually with an option to tell it to fuck off or outright purge it. The game actually surprised me with how ruthless you could be against natives if you wanted to. Hell, I actually had to rein in the party members a few times as they gave me extreme shit for daring to ally with injuns (which I did for the grand triple crossing to happen)

I have extremely mixed feeling about this game.

Pros:
1. Great combat gameplay
2. Nice leveling system and interesting skills
3. Intriguing camping system
4. Can improve your village and defences
5. Atmosphere and viking designs are alright

Cons:
1. Holy shit that empty big city with loads of non-interactive npcs which is pain to explore
2. Disappearing quest marker placements
3. Extremely frustrating side quests with little to nothing to do except fetch something
4. Quests are generally extremely generic to any rpg i played
5. ITS BORING AS FUCK FOR THE MOST TIME
