Cute girls are the best.

When is DT 2.2 out for the gaiyins?

Nobody know. To avoid potential disappointment expect around NEVER EVER.

Toukiden 2. I can't get enough of this game. It's too fun, too satisfying to rip apart Oni. I'm really digging this storyline too.
to play Toukiden 2 with you guys
Not a whole lot on my radar at the moment beyond DangItRonPaul V3 and Mary Skelter. Not even gonna bother picking up the Nonary Games, since I have 999 on DS and VLR already on Vita.
Pre-ordered the Nier Automata OST. Nothing beyond that though.

Truth.

I want to hold hands and pursue a steady relationship with Chitose.

I guess I have time to finish my backlog

How's Shiren The Wandrer for the Vita?

Monster Monpiece and poking at Unchained Blades, since user asked about it last thread. Will get to a short piece of that, later.

APRIL 20TH TO GET HERE AND ME BE ALIVE FOR IT DOKI DOKI WAKU WAKU

DT2-2
Trying to decide on others since this will likely be a discount ship. Could nab Seven Pirates, or maybe that bikini version of Valkyrie Drive.

DT2 and Muramasa

To be able to pick a wallscroll already.

DT2-2 after I pick a wallscroll. I'm in the same boat as except I don't know what Nip only games are good.

Still SRW V. This shit is impossible to put down, even though I'm sitting on more than a dozen other games on my Vita alone that I ought to be playing, to say nothing of Monster Hunter XX and the rest of the things on my 3DS.

Dungeon Travelers 2 to drop to somewhere in the 4000 range.

DT 2-2 next month, and Omega Labyrinth Z in I think it was July.

You'll have to win approval from pic related first, since she'll likely be screening any and all candidates rather intensely.

SRW V, as well as the Z3 duology and Gundam Breaker.

Just finished Lacrimosa of Dana, what's a good RPG for the Vita that's not a dungeon crawler?

I don't know shit about mechas, not even Gundam

Good time to start learning then.

Not everyone is an autistic neet willing to spend +5 years learning a language just to play JRPGs, you know.

Pretty sure more than just JRPGs get fucked in the West. Besides, you make it sound like it's unusual for people to pick up new skills to pursue hobbies.

I've never once met a fisherman who learned chinese to go fish in china, or train enthusiast who learned dutch to go ride in dutch trains. It is unusual.

...

There are however tons of people who learned a language to read books or comics in it.

Ok user, what other skills would you pick up for a hobby that aren't directly related to participating in said hobby. If you like models you'd learn to pain, but only because painting is something you do when making models.

I didn't know learning greek to read the illiad better was equivocal to learning japanese to be able to look up skirts in video games. And I've never heard of someone learning a different language for comics, but that is probably because most comics are in english or japanese.

Not to mention people just don't have time for it, especially because it's not like learning an indo-european language where it has some of the same ideas and mechanics, it's pretty fucking foreign. And this is coming from someone who is "biliterate" in japanese.

Half of the people under 30 in my family know English explicitly because they wanted to watch TV, movies, and play video games without a retarded dub. Stop acting like learning a new language is like learning to build a faster than light space ship just to go to the fast food place a block from your house.

The fuck are you talking about? Of course they're directly related to participation, that's exactly why I said to learn Japanese.

If you don't love video games what the fuck are you doing here?

...

Assuming you know moon? Just asking since you mentioned Ys VIII.

Heard Aksys took noticeable liberties with the English script.

Emulate Super Robot Wars OG for the GBA. It's the easiest litmus test I can think of for walking into that door. Also one of the rare English releases for the entire franchise of 30-something games. You don't need to know backstory since near all you see is original flavor, and melded for the purposes of walking folks into a new SRW adventure.

If you find that appealing, take on SRW J—again GBA, again fan-translated. Highlights for that one include:
- Tekkaman Blade being broken as FUCK or a little unit in a game full of 4 story robots
- Burning Gundam being just as fucking broken (as well as the rest of the Shuffle Alliance and Master Asia)
- Mazinger/Mazinkaiser (Broken)
- Layzner (never subbed here, neat as fuck)
- Voltes & Combattler
- Zeorymer (the manga & anime on that is fucking ridiculous and has to be seen to be believed)
- Full Metal Panic (again, broken as fuck)
- The Nadesico (jesus christ why did they think this was a good idea to let players control this unkillable ship)
- Brain Powered (acid trip anime)

And more. If you can wave those two, then getting into the more current Super Robot Wars shouldn't be too deep a hassle.

As to what you can expect:

- Tactical mechanics and you don't actually drown in them.
- Upgrading mech abilities (Atk/Def/etc) and weapons (Erupting Burning Finger, Gekigan Punch, etc)
- Using pilot skills & parnterships to get out of really thick jams or extremely cheap AI with HP tanks (hello Undefeated of the East and fucking Granzon)
- Getting neat bonuses for completing stage skill requirements (usually "clear map in x turns" or "defeat impossibly powerful mech unit")
- Ham and motherfucking cheese animation scenes with all attacks
- Hotblooded action every other stage
- Seriously grand music choices, both in the licensed property games (like J & V) but also in the original character series (inb4 TROMBE)
- Not overly-complicated, but often surprisingly enjoyable stories that don't go the gag route like most crossovers do

And if you decide to go for broke and track down a few anime series that follow the OG timeline and are just as ham and cheese as the games.

Basically, I guess I should consider adding SRWV myself, considering how far behind I am on the series and through no fault of my own can't currently play any of my PS2 copies.

It's a fun franchise, and one of the few to my knowledge that Bandai can't/won't fuck up, to a point even voice actors involved love the franchise so much they've done pro bono work just to keep budgets in green.

Sorry for the shitty formatting. I think you get the idea, though. Have some anime OP as an apology.

SRW J came out way before Build Fighters though?

Fucking yes you should, this game has devoured me though admittedly I'm also a huge Yuusha fag so Might Gaine's debut alone was enough for that, to say nothing of the Yamato and a COMPLETELY NEW MAZINGER

Was it Midorikawa? I bet it was Midorikawa.

Build Fighters, you mean that commercial one with the kids & the models in virutal space cockfighting? Yeah, way, way before that. It's a GBA game. I think Bandai did about 5 or so Super Robot Wars titles for the GBA. iirc, SRW J was the game that actually revived the Mazinger franchise. I think it was Mazinkaizer's debut.

Yup, it was Midorikawa. The man's outright godly.

Yeah, Burning is a custom Gunpla from the sequel show, Try. The only Gundams in J were G and SEED so really, only G

Revived the shows? Because like you just stated, there was already a Mazinkaiser OVA out before it, which is what was in J. That OVA itself actually made it's SRW debut in the GameCube game, GC, but I THINK the finale movie with Ankoku Daishogun first showed up in J, though I don't recall actually fighting Ankoku Daishogun in J but in W. The concept of Mazinkaiser itself though dates way back to SRW F Kanketsuhen.

He really is. Vid related has him playing 2nd OG and reading out Masaki (and Kuro and Shiro)'s lines for shits and giggles, starting a little after 4:30

I wonder if he's done similar for the times he's had to voice Leon outside of Tales of Destiny/ToD2 themselves (crossover escort titles and the like), considering how ridiculously popular that character is in Japan amongst the native Tales fanbase.

Jesus this makes me miss my SRW runs. Gotta get back to these soon.

Anyone far enough into Toukiden 2 know when you get a fixed mission to fight Goylespawn?

You sick fuck. Do you have any shame?
I approve though, You fucking pervert

not at all. I'm on chapter 4 phase 1. I've been making my way a slowly through the story stuff. 40 hours logged in already.

Fuck, I really want it's armor but I need it's rare drop and the only way I can fight it is ruin missions or a rare spawn in the forest.
I'm tempted to just say fuck it and use some of my multipurpose rocks even though I should be saving them for late game stuff and unique weaapons.

why not use those multipurpose rocks? Don't they respawn?

They don't, there is only like 35 in the whole game.

oh. Well fuck. I've already used a good 5 or 10 of them. I hope they aren't actually required for anything in particular.

The only thing they're really important for is if you want a duplicate of the special weapons you get for maxing out friendship with your colleagues, which you'll have to do if you want the weapon that you can get for reforging those special weapons.
I'm hoping some of the DLC missions japan got lets you get access to more, but I can dig around jap wikis to find out

Nothing right now. Might continue either Ar Nosurge, or Fate Extella. Playing Danganronpa PSP on 3.60 Vita currently.

SRW V. Nep vs Sega. Nep games. Few others.

Might pick up some games soon. Considering SRW V and Soul Sacrifice Delta, assuming that's still alive online.

Considering selling my PS4 since Vita takes up more of my time now anyway, and want to pick up a few more things for it.

Dreamcast emu when?

so you mean like the upgraded version of those weapons? I see. I'll have to start saving them from here on then.
good thing I only switch between four or five different weapons…

It's more of an alternate than an actual upgrade now, most of the time the reforged version of a weapon is just one that has less attack but more precision or status/elemental damage, but for regular weapons there is far more option.
Like the reforged version of the first paralysis rifle has 200 more paralysis damage than the original form, but it also has far less attack.

ah right, okay. I know what you're talking about then. I've seen other weapons do the same way.

Let me ask you this then, is banking on jacked-up elemental attack/status attack worth it even if the base attack damage is low? Seems like it wouldn't be, especially in the case of paralysis or poison, from my perspective. I'm not really sure how elemental damage works in this game. Where as in Monster Hunter I did know, so I knew big elemental boosts were definitely worth going for most of the time in that game. Does that apply here as well? Or is elemental damage not quite as effective?

It's similar to how it works for monster hunter;
Fast weapons are better for elemental/status, exploiting weaknesses is very beneficial.
Raw damage is better for slower weapons, raw damage doesn't have to worry about resistances and still do a fuck ton of damage.

huh my id changed

glad to know then, that's something i'm used to.

Brand new Vita TVs, are they below 3.60? Mainly want to take advantage of USB loading to try out overclocking on some games.

Vita TVs aren't being produced, so if you buy one new it's below 3.60

Yep. make sure to get a nice big Sony memcard for it user.

I think people are just sick of being told to jump through hoops to play video games just because multi-million dollar corporations are retarded with localization. It's easier to just go play the thousands of older, better games than to fuck with the trainwreck of modern gaming. When I got my Vita I was delighted to see all the niche stuff coming for it. After a few years of canceled releases and shit localizations for everything across the board, I'm just done with the abuse.
And to be honest even the nip games are pretty terrible lately. Last two Vita games I got were MeiQ and Valkyrie Drive, both games were pure shit in my opinion, especially VD, which people talk up all the time as a superior Senran. I couldn't imagine learning one of the world's most difficult written languages to play mediocre, broken games. Don't get me wrong, you can find better games that never went to the west, I'm just saying I get why people get annoyed by the super weebs getting pissed they don't want to spend at least a year learning a language to see a handful of uncut game cgs with proper context.

Those thousands of older better games tended to have shit foreignizations too though. Learning Japanese is pretty much going to be a thing no matter what era you're looking at.

...

> "Unlike myself or Raizo, you aren't one made to live in the shadows
> "You were the greatest hero to me."

You absolutely must. SRW is the best franchise in gaming bar none.

Nope. Nope. Nooooope. Don't want it.

Come on, man. It's 400KB worth of data. Even the remastered version has gone on sale.

A little bit of musou. Getting back into Lost Dimension.
Is MSG Extreme vs. Force hard to play through in Japanese? Am I missing much? I'd like to pick up SRW, too, but that's kind of pricey right now.

I'm going to see if Gamestop will give me a discount on Aegis of Earth. Kind of want to buy Gal Gun, too, but I'm not sure. Waiting for some other games to drop in price.

Save up and get SRW V as soon as possible. It's a treat words can't do justice to.

Does this mean memes or just a typical average localization? If so, how meme-y?

Probably won't get too much help here but might as well ask. I was trying to make an alt account to access DLC for imports. It seemed to work, formatted system, swapped out memory cards, signed into HK account, store is in Chinese now. Problem is it still doesn't show DLC for games that should have them, ie doax3. Anything I'm missing? I obviously fucked up but I'm hoping one of you guys can tell me where so I can get my shit together

Between that and Resident Evil, I'd be spending over 120 bucks. It might be good, but I'm not trying to spend that much.

Is it an HK version of the game?

I can understand cost being an issue, and the appeal of the Resident Evil franchise is totally lost on me so I can't fairly say which to prioritize. That said, I will say that you should get SRW V as soon as humanly possible.

Koei Tecmo you fucking jew. Anyone know if you can buy the DLC and host it for others?

this is fucking stupid. The main menu has a "downloads" page for a reason.
no idea. That'd be nice if it can be done though.
i'd be willing to host it as well, if it is doable. I'd have to wait until I get paid on Monday though to buy the mission pack though.

oh wait, nevermind, i can pick it up now. Realized I had a little more money than I thought I did.

Yeah, comes with english/chinese subtitles so I'm assuming so.

If it helps, I get a c0-13529-0 error code after closing the store. Googling it doens't turn up any specific reports about what the error is or if it's related

wololo.net/2017/03/29/developer-mathieulh-promises-surprise-pspvita-developers-april-2nd/

What could it be Holla Forums?

Attention whoring.

To the user wanting to know what Unchained Blades is about, it's a dungeon crawler with a slightly weird Follower system . Several Masters (main units) and four Followers to each master who can assist attack, defend, or use a synced skill attack, depending. There's also a weird DDR-like war game, but I've come to expect that from Furyu (developer).

MC is an edgy asshole who wanted to pick a bar fight more or less, tried to use the Goddess of Creation to find a worthy opponent, pissed her off, and was demoted to weakling. So straightforward that it's refreshing.

I'll leave more impressions later. Seems to be generally fun. Dunno about challenging.

So, is it something along the lines of letting out-of-active-party members occasionally help out mid-fight, or is it more that each character has a designated "Master" or "Follower" role?

I can't remember specifics, I just recall some user (Techraptor user, perhaps? I think it was from someone with access to the game before official western release) dumping screenshots they'd taken, and some of the text seemed highly unlikely to have been accurate to the Japanese original. Maybe someone else still has them.

scans of the last 3 corrupted of DT2-2

I'll get to it eventually. It's on the fast track of games in my backlog to give a whirl.

shigadig

I'm trying to avoid spoilers, not that I expect much more story development from starting the game at the (more or less) halfway point of storyline development of the last game. Still I can't help but get excited, in more than one way.

possible ID change? due to power/router reset
Would any of you anons be interested in playing some Toukiden 2 tomorrow night or Saturday night? I would say for tonight, but it's storming here and the wind has already knocked my power out a few times.

I want to have fun with you all.

How far are you? I'm only Chapter 4 in the story mode and Phase 5 in multiplayer.
I'd be up for it if I'm not called into work those nights and if My internet isn't total ass.

What if I know the syllabary runes, a few kanji and words but just don't care anymore?

finally, storm's passed.

I've finished chapter 6 for the story mode. But i'm in Phase 1 in Multiplayer because I haven't touched it at all yet. I wanted to finish the story before dipping into multiplayer.
I think the story is done now, after finishing chapter 6. Because the only objective you get for Chapter 7 is "slay oni", and it's listed as a secondary objective with no main objective listed or quest marker.

I wouldn't be able to play until 11PM CST or so due to work though. And if we can get a group going we could even make a discord or something. Those pre-made messages seem like a real pain to use.

Cybersleuth, Valkyrie Drive, Persona 2
My fucking SRWV to come in
Picked up Toukiden 2, Shiren, Estival Versus and Dungeon Travelers 2 this pay
Of course

I'd play but my copy won't be in till monday

You owe it to yourself to get on it when you can. So good.

Considering that just shy of 70% of respondents showed either knowledge or a drive to learn I'd say it's not an unreasonable expectation especially when you consider that 30% is probably primarily shitposters from Reddit/Tumbler and/or industry shills

Any recommended japanese game with easy to read font, simple dialogues or requiring to press a button to continue all dialogues? I'm fine with everything except extremely generic cute girls and DRPGs. Ideally it would be something like Muramasa (meaning good aesthetic and interesting gameplay), but when I tried playing that I could only recognise some basic kanji. Also, on a similar topic, I'm now playing Omega Labyrinth and it seems like a good choice so far, also considering grand kingdom. Tried pic related but seemed to hard to follow.

They're a main feature of the game but what I've seen so far is they are an "extra" attack/defend function with your regular character, and combo skill function on tap when you choose so. Haven't run into stat-building just yet, so dunno if they have any aside of a Charisma stat for the Master that looks to improve Follower ability

Granted, haven't been able to devote time to exploring. Life turned shitty, so I'm on damage control for that (& kissing my DT22 preorder goodbye).

DT2-2 Gameplay Trailer

Still DT2 and Ar Nosurge. I've reached the boss of Abyssal Darkness, but I don't stand any chance against it or against Echidna. The only other boss I have available that I haven't cleared yet is the Tver F15 boss, but I'm having trouble with the fucking party limitations. Do I have to clear Tver to unlock the third Otherworld dungeon or what? Abyssal Darkness opened up when I was a few rooms away from Echidna in the Ice Caves, but nothing happened when I was clearing the path to the Abyssal boss.

2-2, bigger memory card, human contact

I'm seriously considering getting another Vita that I don't have to worry about keeping on 3.60.

You should continue Ar Nosurge. How far in are you?

>human contact

It's a shit game, don't bother

Not very far. Got Kanon as a shop and now just fucking around with making weird shit.

Buying a 2nd Vita helps a ton. Keep up to date with standard Vita shit, and nice to have homebrew for OCing/translations.

That's actually exactly where I'm at. Have you completed Ion's genometrics yet?

I'm mostly worried about the cost, it'd be another $250+ to essentially allow me to spend even more money. I don't even qualify for NEETbux.

No. Can't do it until further I guess.

You're able to do it since you're in phase 2, hints in spoiler if you want em. you can tell if a soulscape has something new in it if the star is yellow instead of orange the fourth test is in one of Delta's dive targets

The dialogue and song magic you unlock makes everything worth it.

You know, I wonder if it was worth it. It's kind of heavy. I wonder if there's a manual in it. Also, how much longer do you think Vita games will be in production? I'm trying to gauge how long I have to pick things up.

twitter.com/PlayDoujin/status/847647323043667968

Awww shit, I hope Hitogata Happa gets ported

I mean, it's great and all for Vita owners, and more people can play these games, but it's still disappointing.

To the user(s) I was planning on playing Toukiden 2 with tonight, there's been a change of plans. My boss, at the last minute at the end of today's shift, told me I need to come in tomorrow morning to cover. So I won't be able to play tonight or tomorrow night, since I work an early shift Saturday as well. We'll have to shoot for Saturday or Monday night, as I'll be busy Sunday night.

How IS Persona 2? I've only ever played P3P and P4G and soon to be P5. Is P2 worth going back and playing? Is the story/characters/music as good as 3's are?

No problem, I needed to finish the story anyways.

Is it just me, or does the way that "o" with the marking over it in the character name not syncing with the x-height of the other letters irk anyone else? Granted, that font doesn't seem to have much space for ascending or descending anyhow, but still.

Ah. Well, I hope things improve for you.

AW Phoenix Festa, worth picking up?

A Rose in the Twilight worth playing through in Jap?

Does anyone still play Freedom Wars online?

It's good for a pirate, wasn't really into replaying it again with the only difference being the partner character.
Dunno.
It's probably ded.

now I know what I'm PLAYAN

I've heard the vita version of salt and sanctuary has some technical problems I haven't looked into it though.

Also is it worth picking up a white Vita 1000 since they seem a real fucker to find compared to 2000s.

Thanks user.

I'd be interested in hearing from other anons if it's worth getting, and any issues they encounter. But god DAMN do I hate the character artstyle.

gematsu.com/2017/03/touhou-genso-maroku-w-diadra-empty-gundemoniums-announced-playstation-platforms

P2 blows 3 out of the water on all of those fronts. It's widely considered to be the peak of Persona's writing, and if not for the fact it's battle system is dumbed down so heavily from Persona 1, it would probably be hands down the best of the franchise.

I cant speak to the vita version but the steam version is one of my favorite games of all time like you I dont care for the art style I never did from the dishwasher on but if you can look past that it's a fun game with some decent mechanical variety enemies have a good variety of attacks and wpns sometimes have interesting specials when holding down or a direction, there is also some cool mechanics like the way shrines ("bonfires") work and some sequence breaks you can do

it has some flaws to be sure the art style is weak and there is almost no music but that part is like dark souls, the last boss is kind of a let down and its ez to get really over powered early on its still fun tho

I see. I may have to give it a go. Aren't there 2 Persona 2 games though? Which one is the first one? Or is this more like a Persona 3 FES/Persona 3 Portable situation?

It's a duology, yeah. Tsumi (Sin) is the first game, Batsu (Punishment) is the second.

ahh shit I'd need to play both games?
They're both full-length 30~50 hour games too, aren't they?

They're meaty, though they both got PSP remakes that at least load faster than the PSX originals. Added extra content too.

whew.
I'll definitely put these near the top of my backlog pile at least then. If they're each as long as P3P or P4 was, it's gonna take me a while to get through them. Thanks for telling me about these though.

As far as I'm aware, Eternal Punishment is pretty much an alternate take on Innocent Sin, or something, whilst still being a sequel of sorts. I could be wrong though; I haven't exactly played them myself.

Worth mentioning that only Innocent Sin PSP is in English. Not exactly sure what the reasoning was that we never got Eternal Punishment PSP, be it low sales of IS PSP (considering how it was already 2011 by the time IS came overseas and the PSP being the Piratestation), some retarded stance of SCEA at the time (though that might have been more for ports and not outright remakes), or something else. Anyhow, both PS1 originals are in English now (Innocent Sin having been fan translated), while with the PSP Innocent Sin is the only one in English as of now. Eternal Punishment PSP is apparently in the works for fan translation, but from what I've seen anons are understandably leery about it, considering who's working on it.

No problem

It's fully a sequel, just (Spoiler warning) At the end of Sin, an alternate universe is created where Maya doesn't die, and that's where Punishment takes place

All things considered, I wouldn't trust anything in English regarding a MegaTen title or any other game really. Stick to the Japanese.

...

...

Fucking finally.

During the downtime, I unlocked Eternal Hell - apparently it's triggered by hitting quest rank 13.
I missed you fags

guys we have a new thread here. I went ahead and made a new thread since i'm retarded and didn't see this one here
