While the Gameboy is a pretty archaic piece of technology from a modern perspective, I have trouble wrapping my head around this level of autism. Minecraft can barely run itself, and somehow this guy recreated not only the entire code for Pokemon Red, flattened out into the god-awful redstone system, but also the hardware of the GB, the sound chip, and the graphics output.. and this is somehow all vanila Minecraft?

I didn't know what a "command block" is, so I looked it up, and it's not quite as autistic as you might be thinking, if you last played when the equivalent of a single transistor was multiple blocks w/ redstone, because command blocks allow a slightly higher level of abstraction.

From skimming the wiki, it looks like command blocks would let you do things at about the equivalent of assembly programming, rather than electrical engineering, like in this video. Still autistic, but not as insane as you're probably thinking.

Minecraft has allowed moving images on blocks for a while now. Command block allows what's coded in the redstone to be displayed on one.

Like I said, I just skimmed, but they at least let you do conditionals in a single block instead of needing to wire up every individual logic gate.

I don't get why people keep doing this sort of thing in Minecraft. I'm sure there are virtual machines or simulators out there where you could just write the assembly code or click together some graphical elements for the logic games. Instead they prefer Minecraft where they have to waste time running around, collecting materials, re-arranging them and positioning them by hand in the world. It's such a waste of time, only a turbo-autist could put up with it.

It's assembly, so the correct term is "assembled", not compiled. Assembly is basically machine code, except that the magic number have been replaced with short words, plus you can have some extras like macros and labels to help keep your sanity. Assembly maps 1:1 to machine code, so to run it on anything other than its target system you would have to port it the old-fashioned way: completely rewrite it for the new platform. Or port it to a high-level language where it can be compiled for whatever system you want.

Well no one has ever continually improved forever, eventually everyone hits their limit.
Even if you didn't have a skill ceiling and after years of practice you were able to paint a master piece at the same level as the best paintings in history, that means that YOU were able to do it because of your limitless potential, but that doesn't mean that everyone will be able to do it as you said before.

Well it depends really, if you can get killed then the suicide numers will be really high. You will have to work for ever and once you hit 100 years you'll be a waste of space, you won't be able to do anything, maybe read a book one page per day and the next day you'll forget what you read the day before.

Command blocks fucking ruined Minecraft autism. It used to be you actually had to build literal Turing-complete circuitry by hand, and one by one. Now you can just type the fucking program code directly into command blocks and run extremely basic redstone loops that do nothing more than execute it in a certain order. Granted, it allows for much more powerful programs like this, but it's still easymode.
