What we know about MHXX

-Monster Hunter XX, or Double Cross, is basically the G version of MHX in everything but name.
-Despite Tsujimoto's appearance in the Direct, Kojima's still the Producer for this title, so it is likely Monster Hunter 5 is still in the works.
-3DS exclusive, release date is March 18 2017
-Manufacturer price will be 5800+tax = 6264 for the package version, or 5546+tax = 5990 for the download version. E-Capcom will also have an exclusive limited edition for 11800+tax = 12744
-The E-Capcom limited edition includes
–the package version of the game
–a mini shoulder bag
–A 32 page A4 size Monster Hunter XX Production Note
–a Creators (sic) Selection Soundtrack with five tracks (MHXX theme song "Proof of a Hero ~ MHXX Short ver.", the new field "Igunrei's" hunting theme "Sacred Peak of the Heavens", and 3 songs sung by the Nekojou "Kati" and her younger sister "Milshi" 's unit "Miracle☆Milk Tea": "Trabelna ~ Miracle☆Milk Tea Short ver.", "Proof of a Hero ~ Miracle☆Milk Tea Short ver", and "Cute Airu ~ Miracle☆Milk Tea Short ver") 「MHXXのテーマ曲「英雄の証 ~ MHXX Short ver.」、新フィールド「遺群嶺」の狩猟テーマ「天空の聖嶺」、そしてネコ嬢「カティ」とその妹「ミルシィ」のユニット「ミラクル☆ミルクティ」が歌う3曲、「トラベルナ ~ ミラクル☆ミルクティ Short ver.」、「英雄の証 ~ ミラクル☆ミルクティ Short ver.」、「可愛いアイルー ~ ミラクル☆ミルクティ Short ver.」」
-A pair of exclusive 3DS themes will be included with first print copies of the game.
-As normal for G versions, data carryover from the base game will be implemented.
–Progress in the story and completion of quests will be kept. However, the player's Hunter Rank will be lowered to 8 if it is higher than that, and Hunter Rank Points will be reset to a certain, unspecified amount. Play time will also be reset. Like in previous titles, these stats will be recorded in a "medal" 「勲章」 in XX.
–Upon transferral, players may opt to change their character's name and appearance as if starting a new character entirely. If the player opts to swap genders, any gender-locked equipment they have will be switched for the version for the appropriate gender. If none exists, it will be sold and converted to Zenny. When this occurs, the skill ornaments in said equipment will be removed and placed in the Item Box, or automatically sold if the Item Box is full.
–All weapons, armor, Otomo equipment, protection stones, Items, My Sets, and Zenny will carry over. However, some equipment will have stats modified in XX from X, and those will be updated accordingly.
–Quest status, including that for Special Permission Quests (the ones to fight the Two Name Monsters) will be wholly kept. However, Event and Challenge Quests (DLC) will not carry over. Some but not necessarily all of the DLC from X is planned to be rereleased later.
–Otomos that have been hired will be carried over at their current level. However, any unhired Otomos will be purged. Like with equipment, there will be rebalances for the Otomo/Nyanters from X to XX. While status of Otomo Board Special Training Requests will all be reset, the status of the Otomo will be set as if the Special Training had been completed.
–Quests, Otomos, and Guild Cards being held by Mr. Postman will not carry over.
–MonNyan Squad Request Status, Aimless Hunter Request Status, Trade Counter Request Status, and Maka Alchemy Request Status will all be reset, though MonNyan Squad members will be set as if the request had been finished. Any as of yet unclaimed items will be discarded, and any items or Zenny used in making requests will not be refunded.
–The Guild Card's "Hunter Life Diary" "Friendship Level" "Equipment Register" and "Card List" will not carry over.
–"Arrangement of Combination List" "Otomo Scout Conditions" and "Block List" will not carry over.
-Minor bonuses can be acquired if one has save data from Monster Hunter Stories.
-New Field: 遺群嶺, Igunrei. A non-word made up of kanji that roughly come out to "ancient ruins" "group" and "peak." A newly discovered field in a mountain higher than any visited before.
-Returning fields: "Toride" 「砦」 "Fortress", "Mitsurin" 「密林」 "Jungle", and "Sabaku" 「砂漠」 "Desert"
-G Rank Quests are confirmed, as is a new base for them, the 龍識船 Ryuushikisen, "Dragon" "Consciousness" "Ship".

Monsters
-Diablos and Raoshanron from the original Monster Hunter, Babaconga from Monster Hunter 2, and Berios and Bolboros from Monster Hunter 3 are confirmed to return.
-Diablos has a Two Name version now, 鏖魔ディアブロス, Ouma (Slaughter Devil) Diablos, who is described as the "Chief" of the Two Name Monsters.
-Other new title monster alongside Ouma Diablos is an Old Dragon type 銀翼の凶星 バルファルク "The Silver Winged Fellstar, Balfalk" who has his own exclusive battlefield.
-The Shitennou monsters from X now all have Two Name forms. In addition to Jinmetsujin (Incinerating Blade) Dinovalde 「燼滅刃ディノバルド」returning from X, XX will introduce Tengan (Heaven Eye) Tamamitsune 「天眼タマミツネ」, Seidenshu (Blue Electric Master) Raizex 「青電主ライゼクス」, and Ginrei (Snow Covered) Gamoot 「銀嶺ガムート」.

Player Actions
-In addition to the four returning Styles, two new Hunting Styles are confirmed
–Brave Style is an offensive style built around the philosophy of staying on the offensive. It introduces a unique action called Noutou Keizoku 「納刀継続」, or "Sheathing Continuation," which can then lead into one of two other actions. Inashi 「イナシ」, "Sidestep," triggers when attacked during Noutou Keizoku and induces the player to dodge through the attack while taking reduced damage that appears to be all red bar, and is meant to allow the player to stay close to the monster to continue attacking. The player can also simply attack out of Noutou Keizoku, inducing a Noutou Cancel Attack 「納刀キャンセル攻撃」. Noutou Keizoku is induced by holding the sheathing button (Y) while the weapon is unsheathed, and will be maintained while the player does so, but drains both health and stamina, albeit with the former becoming red rather than totally lost. In addition, Brave Style users gain a "Brave Gauge" over the top of their player name, which builds up by attacking the monster, as well as through executing Inashi. Noutou Cancel Attacks build up the gauge faster than normal attacks. When the Gauge is filled, Brave Condition 「ブレイブ状態」 is induced, with effects varying based on the chosen weapon. Brave Style can equip one Hunting Skill.
–Renkin Style (short for 錬金術, "Renkinjutsu," or Alchemy) is a support focused style. Like with Brave Style, players acquire a gauge placed over the top of their name, though rather than a gradual build like the Brave Gauge, the Renkin Gauge is a five bar meter. As time passes it will gradually fill, though it can be sped up by attacking the monsters. Furthermore, the Item list will gain a new entry, the Maka Renkin Barrel 「マカ錬金タル」 for use with this meter. By using the barrel, the player will begin an animation of shaking a barrel to mix items by consuming Renkin Gauge bars, with the option to make better items by consuming more bars and spending more time shaking. Furthermore, by creating items, Renkin Style users will be able to enter a more powerful SP Condition than normal (more on that below.) Renkin Style can equip three Hunting Skills.
-New Hunting Skills, including ones for each weapon class, are confirmed.

-SP Hunting Skills, or Style Powerup, have been introduced as well. Regular Hunting Skills can be designated as an SP Skill, and in addition to their normal effect, when activated the player as well as all allies (Otomo Airu, or other Hunters/Nyanters in multiplayer) will enter SP Condition 「SP状態」, a condition with effects varying based on the type of player/ally.
–Guild: The usage animations for healing and trap items (as well as potentially other items) speeds up, shortening the usage time.
–Striker: Hunting Skill gauges will slowly build up even when the player is not attacking.
–Aerial: The timing for recovery of Stamina lost from Step Jumping off a monster speeds up.
–Bushido: The reception time for Just Actions increasing, allowing for easier Just Evades and Just Guards.
–Brave: The Brave Gauge builds faster.
–Renkin: The Renkin Gauge builds faster.
–Nyanter: The amount of Support Gauge used for Support Actions is lowered.
–Otomo Airu: Support Actions are more likely to trigger.
-SP Skills are set in the equipment box when setting up Skills normally by pressing the R button. For most Styles, only one Skill can be an SP Skill, but Renkin Style can set all three as such. Furthermore, as items are produced using the Maka Renkin Barrel, Renkin Style users can "upgrade" their SP Condition with additional effects (it's unclear whether this superior SP Condition applies only to the Renkin user or affected allies as well.)
–SP Condition II: The loss of maximum stamina gauge is slowed.
–SP Condition III: Health will slowly regenerate.
–SP Condition IV: It will become easier to make attacked monsters flinch.
-While Nyanters and Otomo Airu cannot use Hunting Skills, they will get a special Support Action to induce SP Condition.
-Nyanters have been buffed and dependent on their Support Tendency can now use "Just Guard" ala Bushido Style, as well as "Aerial Dodge" ala Aerial Style. Furthermore, a new Support Tendency, Beast, has been confirmed. This new Tendency has a unique Support Action, Beast Change Skill 「ビースト変化の技」, that puts the Otomo/Nyanter into "Beast Condition" 「ビースト状態」 which specializes in close range attacks. By hitting the monsters with the finishing move of the Beast condition's combo attack, "Claw Finish" 「爪フィニッシュ」, the Otomo/Nyanter can power themself up in an escalating fashion similar to the Kiba combos employed by Tachi users.
–Tier 1: "Cat's Bracing Skill" 「ネコのふんばり術」(When attacks would make the player fall on one's rear, that animation is omitted) and "Cat's Safe Fall Skill" 「ネコの受け身術」(Super Armor) activate, and immunity to some monster screams and wind pressure is granted.
–Tier 2: Critical Hit rate increases
–Tier 3: SP Condition activates

Ouma Diablos - Has a new "crazed rage mode" 「狂暴走状態」 beyond the normal rage mode. Seems able to cause explosions.

Balfalk - When in rage mode, the head and wings will turn black from the dragonic energy activating. It's attacks will likewise become more vicious.

Oborogakure Holoro Holuru 「朧隠ホロロホルル」 - It releases a special silvery powder that it can cloak itself in like a mantle or cape to hide itself. It can launch it's feathers in a shockwave attack, and also gained the ability to steal items like Geryos.

Nerskyura and Grabimos have returned.

Hunting Skills

大剣/Great Sword - Moon Break「ムーンブレイク」. The Hunter uses the massive bulk of the weapon to launch themselves into midair, then slams the monster with a cleave ideal for breaking parts or flinching monsters.

片手剣/Sword and Shield - Konton no Jinyaku 「混沌の刃薬」(Chaotic Blade Drug.) The Hunter lunges forward, dragging their blade against the shield to ignite the specially mixed Blade Drug with the friction. As such, it applies said drug while attacking, giving the blade the effects of all four normal Blade Drugs: Kaishin 「会心」, Juugeki 「重撃」, Metsuki 「滅気」, and Shingan 「心眼」.

太刀/Long Sword - Youtou Rasetsu 「妖刀羅刹」(Mystic Sword Rasetsu/Rakshasa) The Hunter's attack is temporarily increased. Throughout the duration of the effect, the Hunter's health will steadily decrease, but by attacking the monster health can be recovered (presumably similar to the effect from 4G.)

双剣/Dual Blades - Rasenzan 「ラセンザン」 (Spiral Slash? no kanji given.) The Hunter charges forward while spinning with the blades. When the weapons dig into the softer parts of the target monster's flesh, the Hunter can use the whole of their body slash forward, dealing great damage.

ハンマー/Hammer - Impact Plus/Pulse 「インパクトプルス」. For the duration of the skill, the Hunter's charged attacks will unleash a shockwave that does an additional attack.

狩猟笛/Hunting Horn - Animaatohai (I don't have the first clue what this is trying to say)「アニマートハイ」. The Hunter can instantly shift into a faster than normal perform attack after doing a dodge action with invincible time.

操虫棍/Insect Glaive - Kakuchuu Kyouka 「覚蟲強化」(Awakened Bug Strengthen). The bug's stamina will decrease but it's movement speed will be greatly enhanced.

ランス/Lance - Chiyu no Tate 「治癒の盾」(Healing Shield.) The Hunter applies a health restoring medicine to their shield and utilizes the shockwaves of attacks the shield takes to restore themselves as well as nearby allies.

ガンランス/Gunlance - AAフレア (Anti-Air Flare.) A cannon attack type Hunting Skill possessing qualities for surface-to-air interception. The Hunter fires all shots into the air then follows up with a Dragon Attack Cannon 「竜撃砲.」 The latter does not activate if the Gunlance is currently cooling down though.

弓/Bow - 身躱し射法 (Evasive Archery.) A Hunting Skill that combines offense and defense into one by allowing the user to fire a charged shot behind them as they evade an attack. Should the player hold the button while dodging, the shot will not be taken, and the charge will be held as normal.

ライトボウガン/Light Bowgun - チャージショット (Charge Shot.) Enables the Hunter to charge up Level 1 Normal Bullets 「LV1通常弾」 to levels 2 or 3.

スラッシュアックス/Switch Axe - テンペストアクス (Tempest Axe.) A Hunting Skill that strengthens the Axe Mode State. The Hunter will not feel the weight of the weapon and be able to move about and swing the weapon quickly while in the Axe Mode State.

チャージアックス/Charge Blade - チェインソーサー (Chain Saucer.) Slash the foe with a spinning shield attack using the sword attack energy, which is returned to the bins at the end of the attack. If the R button is pressed at this point, the shield's element will be strengthened.

へビィボウガン/Heavy Bowgun - 射突型裂孔弾 (Piercing Shot Stance Esophageal Hiatus Bullet.) A shot that does slashing element damage.

XX is getting DLC quests for Makai Mura and Fire Emblem crossovers, as well as Universal Studios Japan crossover quests. The Makai Mura and Fire Emblem quests will be available from 7-Elevens with the 7-Spot Wi-Fi service from March 21st to April 23rd, while the USJ quests will be available at USJ itself in two sets, one from March 18th to May 7th, the latter from May 8th to June 25th.

Is healing hunting horn viable now in mhgen? which to use? duraboros seems nice

HH is a joke weapon, user.

Makes you think.

How do you even beat Tigrex in mhfu?

Sad but true.;_;

Just be aware that his hitboxes are about 30% bigger than his model.

makes me think you're a faggot

How are you supposed to handle his rage mode tho?
Best way seems to be to just leave the area and wait for him calm the fuck down.
also I'm talking about guild Tigrex if that makes a difference

Just focus way more on dodging when he's in rage, His only really dangerous attacks are the charge and the spin(both because of fucked up hitboxes) so try a hit and run playstyle.
Also, guild shit has inflated hp and damage

I can't wait to see what route the western localization will take. Will the quest description make Gammoth a feminist? She's certainly large enough to fit that role. Or will they take the easy way out and replace the whole description with "…"?

Please do not bully! This is a no bully zone! Bullying will not be tolerated unless you're bullying HH mains who don't exclusively attack the legs.

Gammoth will be further changed in named to Rathia, you can no longer pet your pets, and no more palico armors because it's creepy.
Also not all of the dlc will be brought over. This is seen as good by the fanbase because fuck weebshit.

shiggy

That is a reasonable and a fair way to handle the battle but here is the cheese that makes the fight trivial
take any weapon with guard and hug walls.

New Famitsu scans for the week.

God damn this has sold me on double cross more than just about anything else announced so far

Huh, I was almost convinced they didn't give a single fuck about atmosphere

Which monster would you fuck?

none__

I bet the Guildmarm fucks like a monster

Holy fucking shit, I'm never soloing guild tigrex again

Finish the village before moving onto guild.

Any recomendations for a GS/LS user? Im a little confused because haven't saw any boss from the previous games and the weapons had another damage formula. Making an elemental LS will worth it or I have to stick with the old, thrusty, Iron LS path?

I just flashbang it as soon as he enters in rage mode for taking advantage of the lowered defense he gets.
Unless you have Guard+1 or mega juices that will be a slow fight, but who use these stuff anyways.

here how it is done

All that and HH still takes twice as long to kill monsters than other weapons.
It's a shame

…and they buffed it nonstop

Actually it's only gotten worse even since 3U.

I thought it got buffed in 4?

It got an indirect nerf by having the A attack changed, and stun outside of CB was nerfed overall, not to mention that there's only one horn who has more than one good song in 4U.

When will HH actually get balanced around their songs so HH without atk up songs are viable?

I don't think anything changed dramatically in the formulas, do you mean the spirit bar for long sword? Either way LS, like lance and other medum attack rate weapons are fine with raw. Proper elemental choice will give you a boost, but not really enough to justify the extra time it takes to make multiple elemental weapons over one half decent raw (or maybe poison) weapon. If there's one with a design you like though go ahead and make it. As usual with slow attack rate weapons element will provide better damage on the right monster, but it's barely noticeable.

:^)

Once HH stops getting useless buffs and horribly detrimental nerfs. "Lol lets lower it's stun, HH was too strong before!"

...

If the double note system they added in gen was useful rather than useless that'd be something. But thankfully the HH seems to be an enigma of balance, so we can just rely on it getting nothing.

At this point Capcom could just multiply HH's motion values by 1.5, it'd become a mid tier weapon alongside LS and Bow. That's literally all HH needs, more damage.
Alternatively, add more stun to solidify its position as a support weapon.

What's the point of adding more stun and exhaust when capcom just keeps making more and more mechanic immune enemies. Like, it's one thing to have hypers and deviants that are stronger and faster than regular, but it's just boring making them never get tired and are completely impractical to ko. If they want to remove the exhaustion mechanic from 'special' monsters, why not make them take no exhaust reductions from their own attacks, but have a lower damage threshold for triggering exhaustion.
Suddenly HH becomes super useful except woops widerange SnS with oils

How do you unlock the elder dragon quests in the guild hall?

Well, time to make lots of weird looking (with questionable efficiency) weapons. Too bad chameleos isn't in the game. I liked the invisible effect when the spirit bar gets full.

You have to beat Lao from low rank and the missions will appears randomly on the guild. If you haven't got Lao on the guild, beat every 3 and 4 stars quests except the gathering ones.

So just all the hunting and slaying(white and red) quests?
I've seen alot of conflicting information about unlocking Lao Shan

...

Yes. Do everything except the fishing, mining and the liver deliver quests.(can't remember how they are named but they are on the 3* stars list I guess).

Which is your favorite elder dragon Holla Forums?

Fun wise?
Dire Miralis if you have friends to fight it with you, Teostra otherwise.

PANIC

It's almost like they just thought "oh this sounds cool" and didn't think about it at all, but they would never do that right? They certainly didn't make now 2 games around that philosophy.

I'm 5 stars in gen, I kinda need someone to do Status:Effected with me. I'm a LBG user and I always end up running out of ammo when I try by myself.
ID is 56-0064-7546-4763
I'm up for some regular questing too of whatever you want afterwards

Have you considered using a weapon that doesn't need ammo? :^)

Like a bow

bump

I am really excited about it. However, I do fear that it might be overpowered and the freaking switching between modes will never happen again….except in brave.

What's a good hr armor to replace my lr Garuga set in gen? Because I ain't farming that thing in the volcanic colon.

which weapon

Ow the edge.

Anything with weakness exploit, earplugs or Au works then

Thanks.

Is weakness exploit actually that good on something like long sword? From my reasoning I'd think that, even playing adept, longsword is far too unreliable in it's attacking angles to get the exploit bonus reliably (on anything except rajang of course). Also longsword gets a lot of damage racked up from clipped fade slash hits and the follow up R hit, neither of which are very accurate unless you're playing overly cautiously.
Au is always good, and for anything other than adept earplugs are good, as well as element boosting if you have an element, alternatively to earplugs ev+1/2 is pretty useful. On adept however the only really useful skills for ls are raw boosting skills.

No one uses Axe mode now, though. The weapon might as well be called the Switch Sword in gen

Was axe mode ever useful?
I remember axe mode being the only reason the weapon was mildly interesting to play in tri, but I don't think there's ever been a time when sword mode + reload wasn't dramatically more efficient, and by that point you might as well play GS.

anyone have an english iso for MH portable for psp?

As you said it really depends on the monster, but it's a 12.5% dps increase when attacking weak spots and that's pretty big. It means easier breaks and easier staggers too.
Not really, LS is a medium speed weapon so boosting element will always be worse than just boosting raw. Element boosters like that are only really worth it on lbg, bow, sns and ds

I am talking about monster hunter XX. See
This might finally make axe mode worthwhile. But again, it might overpower it and we get stuck yet again on a game that doesn't let you actually switch modes.

I don't see that happening, even with that hunter art. You just lose too much damage from being in axe mode, unless the art makes you swing DS fast, it's not worth the damage hit.

SA was fun in 4U due to timing reloads, having an extremely large collection of monster tails and using sword mode properly unlike in Gen's 24/7 power sword.

As a SA user in 4U i see SA all over fucking place in Gen except the tail and i used to make it a point to slice the tail off every single monster in every quest i wielded SA.

But the points moot due to quest rewards handing out tails willy-nilly so the SA becomes almost irrelevant as it's just a sword to swing around while jumping around like a rabbit on speed until you mount.

Careful with this as it's actually 12.5% raw increase (for a 0 aff weapon ofc), although the effect is usually that 12.5% sounds like a smaller boost than you actually get. What really needs to be considered with weakness exploit rather than the pure numerical increase is that since MH is still an action game, your actual attack rate can drop by changing your playstyle, so you could look at it like:
Can I land 6 average hitzone attacks in the same time or less than I could land 3-5 (rough estimate for WE boost + hitzone difference) hits on weakzones?
With greatsword or HBG for example the answer is pretty well yes almost all of the time, but on a lot of monsters usually you will be getting that same or less time with longsword.
I'd say that it actually means less breaks and staggers, compared to any other constant stat boosts, since you're not doing any extra damage to any non-weakpoint hitzones which can mean legs, wings, tail, body for most monsters. Further, I'd say that at least 2/3 of the breaks have hitzones below 45, I'd even say breaks with a hitzone higher than 45 are almost exclusively heads. Of course if you're exclusively targetting weakzones than yes you're definitely getting way more staggers to that zone and probably overall, but exclusively targetting the weakzone with longsword ends up going back to the issue before about hitcount on any zone vs hitcount on one zone, with the added factor of different stagger thresholds (legs are often the lowest stagger threshold and aren't often 45+ zones)
The point isn't that it's useless on longsword, but might only provide an equivalent boost to attack up S on longsword, where on other weapons it could provide an L-XL boost equivalent
Usually but not quite always, medium weapons get enough benefit to justify using elemental boosts, but not focus on them. I.e. if you make a set with relevant element+1 that you like the look of or that has other useful skills you want, it would still be fairly reasonable to use with a non-adept ls. However if you look at elem+1/2 and atk s/m in a vacuum (ignoring the more complex assumptions that need to be made for comparing crit boosting) atk s/m will always be better outside of joke weapons with weird stats or the rare monster that has a really huge weakness to a particular element.

Not that I have one to give you but, are you sure you want to play portable 1? Saying it's an acquired taste would go beyond being an understatement.

I really don't think SA reloads were long or awkward enough to require any more timing than using a potion. Maybe you mean timing reloads as in timing depletion of the gauge with burst or something though? Either way that really isn't what is interesting with SA, it needs to be reworked in order to make much more use of the axe and have sword mode only as an extra to be used occaisionally. Apparently brave style might allow for something like this, but that was only something I read in one of the other threads on here.
The whole 'SA cuts tails' meme never really made sense to me. Unless you're going to compare it DS or SnS in the sense that they have little vertical range (but can still cut reasonably well due to tripping tall monsters all the time anyway) I don't see how it cuts tails noticably better than any other weapon, maybe compared to GL?
There really is no reason to be focusing on the tail as any weapon user unless you're trying to cut cham tails, every other monster the tail should pop off pretty easily if at least half of your current team is using slicing weapons. If anything the tail isn't the best hitzone to target for damage and since it's used in monster attacks a lot it often neccessitates spending more time evading/repositioning than you might otherwise need to attacking from a different position.

Whoa that post is way bigger than I thought it would be
I think I got that back to front, it should be 'answer is pretty well no', as in WE is definitely a big boost for hbg and gs

Never played a single MH game. Should I get a DS for it, or should has the moment passed and maybe I should wait for a new iteration maybe on the switch???

I dunno, maybe you should play p3rd or fu on ppsspp if you don't know if you'll like the games. If you just want to play with other people though the 3ds games all still have kind of alive online, but there will be a boost around when double-crossed gets released.
What's with the three question marks? If you're just being ironic and I took you seriously sorry I guess?

Are there any fan edits of the PSP Freedom Unite? I just tried out the PSP emulator and holy shit MHFU looks fucking beautiful at such a high resolution. After seeing how great it looks, there has to be some high res texture pack or some type of fan made expansion pack right?

I think the closest is that HD port to ios.

Try out Portable 3rd/HD on the PSP/PS3 if you have one of those, otherwise go ahead and get a 3DS, the Switch probably won't be seeing MonHun anytime soon.

Monster Hunter XX has a Hunter X Hunter crossover. Which means you have Monster Hunter XX x Hunter X Hunter.

i don't even play the games, i just thought this was too silly not to post

So Togashi's gonna collect even more moon shekels for doing fuck all?

SA users get more tail, Hammer users get head and LS gets sloppy seconds.
Using the upswing and watching Jho's tail fall off never gets boring because I've got the reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaach suck it SNS and DB.

I may have to accept the EZ tails from quest rewards in Gen along with the lower HP of most High Rank monsters mean its now no longer an exclusive tail slicing weapon.

I'll still be going for tail with my SA in 4U and MHXX. Provided in MHXX it still isn't the infinite power sword that makes Axe mode completely worthless, in that case i'll stick with LBG+HBG again till another MH game drops.

fuck my reddit spacing on my post>>12091868

Still loses to GS though.

They should do a clamp crossover so we can get six in a row

That's an awful lot of words just to say 'NO U'. I guess it sounds like your having fun though, so I can't really hold it against you, but one day when you're a jaded omni-fag you'll look back and laugh.
Well you would laugh if you weren't so blazé about everything.

When I think he wants to do 2 more arcs after Dark Continent I shudder.

The only thing blazing is your love for cock.

It's never gonna happen. He's just gonna take it with him into the grave, so he has something to bribe Miura with in nipponese mango hell.

Hey you find me a synonym for jaded then you shotacon fag

(p.s. feel free to lecture me on why hxh isn't gay and boring as hell)

HxH is pretty gay and boring,
And it turns to shit after the tower arc.

It's blasé, numb nuts. I'm not gonna debate the homosexness of HxH, though.

Oh. you're right
In that case fair game, I'm retarded/suck cocks.

Monster Hunter Double Cross for the West when?

What armor skills should I try getting for Gunlance in MHGen? I read that artillery is no longer as good compared to 4U is this true?

trufact: The only thunder element attack Rajang does is the small laser. You can tell because it thunderblights you. Every other attack he does, from the blanka balls to the giant lasers, are non elemental. The guy's still a faggot for abandoning. High HR people should know the Rajang fight well enough to do it in their sleep.

...

user, not every one has autism as strong as yours.

Honestly gunlance is so low tier (it's ranked below nyanter…) in this game it doesn't really matter if your skills aren't perfect, but artillery isn't bad by any means. It really depends on how you're playing, and artillery does make it easier to lock into red when using normal fullburst to build heat. Be aware that having a shorter wyvernfire cooldown does mean that you also have a shorter heat lock, but that doesn't really matter too much. If you're looking at pure numbers though artillery isn't half as good as it used to be, no

Careful with relying on blights to determine if you're taking elemental damage, I don't know if it's true anymore but a lot of 'physical' monster attacks actually had elemental damage in them even though there was no indication of it. See gamefaqs.com/ps2/914914-monster-hunter/faqs/39885 near the end if you're curious.

How many times do I have to tell you that some people actually enjoy flavour text and characterization in games. Ignoring the overly complex weapon descriptions that you'd need to be jlpt1 to read half of, just consider what most players would be missing out on with the cute guildies if they spoke absolutely zero Japanese.
Although, you are getting more and more right with every release, soon the quality of translation could get so low that only having a functional understanding of the game through wikis would be better than what we're getting in english.

Who would even bother?

This sounds like even more of a reason to never play Japanese games in English.

Can you at least try and read the whole post, or would you need a wiki to do that?

As opposed to the English releases, where they literally just make up whatever they want? There's really no getting around learning Japanese if video games are at all your thing.

Are we arguing playing that knowing and playing in Japanese is better or that anyone and everyone can and should play in Japanese right now because of wikis and google translate.
I mean try casually reading this and knowing exactly what it says and the nuances in how it's said in under a minute without using any translation resources: 王の怒りを体現した狩猟笛。 弦は打ち震え、猛る音色に乗り 王者の闘争心が乗り移る
If you can honestly understand the entirety of that fluently in under a minute with no translation I'm pretty jelly to be honest

*with no translation tools

It seems I jumped into the middle of a conversation, I'm not the person you were speaking with about wikis and such, sorry for the mixup there.

Not that hard, the only kanji I don't recognize immediately is 弦

Artillery expert
Load up
Guard+2
Airborne or taunt/razor sharp/bludgeoneer/speed sharpening/trump card/whatever

Don't listen to about gunlance being worse than nyanter, unless you aren't going for bursts, then you might as well take any other weapon(except for HH).

No, that's not true for gl. Actually you now can stack f.bombardier with art expert and it will get the full benefits, unlike art god and the same food skill in 4u. However it's shit for cb.

I definitely agree that playing in Japanese is much better, but the translations were more or less fine up until 4U, which was ok but not too bad. Gens is really quite bad though and I only have myself to blame for being stuck at n4 reading and being unable to understand half of the text in any game without furigana or using radical searches. However, due to how much content is almost directly ported from other games to gen, the english version is still preferable to most english speaking players. Though I am fairly concerned that MH5, should it actually ever come out, will be as far gone as the recent nintendo treehouse releases, at which point I would agree that even someone with zero knowledge in japanese would be better off going by wikis.

Only ranked worse than nyanter, and only according to TA times, I should have been more specific about that. On a regular hunt GL is much better, but it is sad that a felyne can actually get better times in a min-max scenario.
About artillery, I thought that the boost was pretty minimal and that even with the shelling boost HA and maxed out fullburst that simple attack boosts yielded better DPS, if only by a small amount. At least compared to the more singnificant boosts it provided in 4U, I could be wrong though, especially since the use of different styles affects attack patterns which have more importance than pure numbers.

To be fair, I don't play foreign releases of games at least not since finding out that our release for Battletoads was toned down, but from what I've seen generally the best you can hope for in a foreign release these days is a well-meaning if awkward translation that functions properly, but you're more likely to get what amounts to teenage fanfic writers scribbling over the script, half the game's content cut out, and hardware-breaking bugs.

i don't know, i seem to take much more damage from these when im using my jhojho -25 thunder def set than his punches in Super Saiyan + Kaioken mode

Which is why i don't use that set when im fighting the Hyper version

Also i don't get one-shotted when i play gunner with +20 thunder res and get caught during a reload

Probably in the late summer/fall.

...

Played MH4U as my first MH game, roommates introduced me to it because I'd never heard of it before then. Put 300 hours into it. Picked up MHG when it came out and put maybe like 60 hours into it before I got bored and stopped.

Just recently picked it back up, decided to try a different weapon than I started with (started with DB and stuck with it, figured I'd give CB a try)… suddenly finding my enthusiasm for the game returned. Maybe its because I suck with the weapon so far and so fights are harder as I'm learning (said fuck it, didnt start out downraking and fighting easy shit, just started back up where I was soloing guild 6 or 7 quests) and taking longer. But I'm getting better.

But I have a question, am I wasting my time and should I just go back to 4U? Do people actually play G online? I havent looked yet, mostly because I play at work and don't want to kill my phones data using it as a hotspot to much, or subject people to my learning a new weapon. So I don't know if there are actually people out there still playing it online much. I know its end game kind of sucked apparently, compared to the G-crown ranking and so on in 4U.. but.. do people still play Gen online?

Yeah, people play both online.

Man Brave hammer is a lot of fun but it feels like my times are still suffering compared to Striker and Guild.

bump

Based on the MHXX demo: Brave GL fixes everything wrong with the GL and puts it at the top of the stack for me, praise Kek too because it was my favorite in 4U and unusable in MHX. Brave HBG is kinda shitty, but maybe that's because I have NEVER used siege mode since they introduced it. Brave Hammer is still fun as fuck and gives KOs for days, Hammer finally back where it should be as King of KOs.

Still haven't tried Renkin yet but it looks way too meme-y and stupid to be useful for solo huntan.

So I should just pirate MHXX instead of MHX?

Also is MH going down the shitter? I hear bad things about MHX, was it really that bad? The sales performed well. But which team developed it? Team A or B? Where is MH5? probably for the Switch right?

So this is the dark continent. Interesting.

I would say pirate MHXX when it gets a translation patch or gets an english release

but X's problem is that it's quiet different from other monhun games with hunting arts and styles another problem is the begining of the game has alot gathering quests that makes it very boring compared to other games and being the first version of the game means there's no G rank so it doesn't have that much quest content compared to 4U

in other words X is very experimental compared to 4U if you didn't like XX go and pirate 4U instead as another option

When it comes to Monster Hunter the answer is always the same: play the most recent one, with the most refined mechanics. Always.

With MHXX literally days away, there isn't any reason to play MHX. There hasn't been any reason to play MH4U since MHX came out either, there's even less reason now.

what are you talking about MHX was worse than MH4U in a ton of ways.

I have like 500 hours + on MH4U.

you're retarded

XX has all of X, so no reason not to unless you don't want to wait for next week. If you do start on X, you can carry over to XX so that's no problem either though.

B. Tsujimoto isn't even involved really, and has been working on 5 the whole time.

Probably for the 3DS still, it's been in the works too long, and the Switch is going to bomb at home.

Nah, I still go back and play Portable 2nd G and 3rd, as well as 3G and 4G every so often.

...

Why? I am geniunly curious. I started at 3 ultimate. What are exactly the differences in them that make people return to them, other than the sake of fighting monsters not present in the current iteration?

I can't speak for others, but for me at least each title (barring ones that are straight up the previous with G added on, like 2 and 4) is a very different experience, with it's own challenges and progression that give it it's own character.

I've started up FU again recently and I'm having way more fun than I ever had in X.

Ye FU is a huge step in another direction coming from the later games. The smaller monsters are actually a threat!

I am having a blast with X, but the problem is that I feel that the hunter arts and the styles will make me lazy on memorizing monsters' patterns and attacks, mainly, bushido style and absolute evasion.

I also finished P3rd before starting up FU and I have to say, even despite some of the gameplay improvements that P3rd has over FU I still liked FU more. It's not only because it's harder and has more content, quests and G-rank. It's also because of the general style and tone of the game, I felt like P3rd was way to cartoonish and silly and all the monsters looked like pokémen. The difference in visual style is especially apparent when comparing weapons and armour between the generations. Like how you can clearly see that the rathalos armour is made from the parts of a rathalos compared to something like the nibblesnarf armour which inexplicably looks like space marine armour and bears no resemblance to the monster you get it from at all, or the agnaktor armour which looks like it'd fit better in Disney's Hercules than monster hunter, or the halloween costume that gigginox gives you.

Maybe these are just my autistic gripes but they kept me from enjoying P3rd as much as I otherwise would've.
I'd wish that MH5 would bring back more of the realistic arstyle of the 1st and 2nd generation, but that probably won't happen considering that the series "exploded" with popularity with Tri.

I always felt like the styles broke up the gameplay to much and made the hunters way to over powered

Case in point. There's also no real reason not to use the best style/weapon combo for each weapon (for example: adept/bow). So in that way a mechanic meant to make the gameplay more varied actually counter-productively makes the it less so.

Not really, it's obvious how the tone got screwed up with the latter installments. It shows pretty much in every aspect of the game and not only in armor and monster designs. Music(lacking), area designs(kinder), plotline(more stupid than ever before), characters(distracting), gameplay(forgiving), visual effects(a mess) and so on.
Sure.
Wrong. Well, some styles do make weapons more simplistic, but that's not the point. Now weapons have more than one viable style because they are the best in different categories or they can excel equally in the same depending on approach. For example, striker with 2 evasion arts and busido.
And I don't think people have a choice of sticking to several weapons before the endgame, since, eh, it can be quite expensive maintaining several mains.

retard

Hunting Horn, Hammer, HBG, and CB would like to have a word with you there. Unless your idea of striker being good is "lol just stack 3 evasion arts"

When you can't constantly roll into attacks a.hammer sucks.
Aerial with pellets is a viable style for some monsters. Also, the boost is so shortlived and the weapon is so boring that you might as well go for guild.
Shiggy.
see below
???

Except that the main reason to use adept HBG isn't the boost but being able to roll out of siege mode. Don't talk about shit you know nothing about

Also
You do know that TA's restart every time they make a mistake right? You can't afford to do that in regular hunts, at all, so of course they can go with riskier stuff because if they mess up they'll just restart.

Why are you so stupid that you didn't get the implication of an evasion art thrown in there, especially since it refills instantly with hbg?

Come on, just say that you are pretending to be retarded, please. One can't be this stupid when constructing arguments.

Can't use it to escape outta siege. Btw literally 97% of your so precious TA records for HBG use adept so you might wanna keep that in mind.
Said that the guy whose argument is literally "you are stupid"

So? My point was that the styles are interchangeable depending on an approach, and you agreeing on TA argument by using it yourself, means that you are either a hypocrite or have proven my original point to be right by accepting the reasoning behind it.
It's more like "you are stupid, here are hints why" and if you got only the first part, then, eh, I'm kinda right.

The argument is that the introduction of styles makes the game less varied because only one style is ever viable for every weapon? The supporting evidence being that Hunting Horn, Hammer, HBG, and CB are useless in striker? Aside from HBG and CB striker being very viable, which particular style is best for hammer and HH to such a degree that every other style is invalidated?
Additionally, if you're discounting TA examples as being reasonable indicators because the element of risk is reduced then you've also discounted the one situation in which styles are definitively restricted.

Look if "viable" is your only real defense, you're retarded, shadowboxing the monster to death is "viable" the issue is if a vast majority of TAs use a specific method because it's faster, then surprise! it's the best method and the other styles are comparatively worse, and unless you for whatever reason really want to dick around and make hunts take longer, there's no point.

And Striker horn is fucking garbage because it's already pathetic motion values get nerfed and it has no good hunting arts.

Alright, maybe you've just pressed reply button for the wrong post, sure let's ignore this, I mean, these and other fuck ups you've already did up until this point. So instead I'll answer, but employ your strategy - pick a part of the argument that I can easily answer while giving close to no fucks about the context of it. If you'll take it seriously, then there wouldn't be any point in continuing this, since it'll prove that it's impossible to communicate with you.
That statement is full of shit. Even if it is possible to do a single monster HR guild quest in time, doing hypers/eds/dps checks is out of the question. On top of that it is extremely inconvenient since it requires of you to constantly fiddle with the menus for a prolonged period of time which is like 4-8 times longer than an average hunt.

Why did a monster hunter knock off get region filtering before the real monster hunter?

Real Monster Hunter already filters out all foreigners to begin with though

I just want to filter out the hues and baguettes

I don't think they'd show up unless they also imported from Japan though

Some actually import, not enough to frequently run into them but they are out there. It was a nightmare seeing "JE SUIS MONTE" pop up a day after starting up the jap version of MHX

That does sound scary. Makes me glad I don't play multiplayer.

Do I need to stop playing thrusty uppercut and just learn how to greatsword finally?

Depends on what "uppercut" is supposed to reference to.
If it's adept's overhead into strong charge move, then I don't see why would you abandon a style you already accustomed to.
If it's standard XA then it depends on the game and your experience in general. In 2nd gen XA(/\O) was a bread and butter move for connecting charges. In 3rd gen slap and strong charge were introduced, but they don't really offer much to make someone drop the XA entirely. 4th gen introduces horizontal swipe which is pretty substantial and monsters don't leave openings big enough to give you more than 3 charged hits which is exactly a fullcombo of GS which does more damage overall. More over, unlike XA you can now connect horizontal slash into strong charge+swipe. So you probably should get rid of it if you are in gen or big guy.

That's probably Japs having a laugh. I doubt the French were clever enough to find the chat box for "I've mounted it" and change it.

Is that an option to choose which region you play with or an option to disable certain regions from playing with you?
If the latter, what happens if you join a hub that lets in every region, but you're set to decline BRs, and a BR joins?

So it's like playing hunting horn then

So has MHXX leaked yet?

5 hours

If you hit G rank in XX you can wear cosmetic armours over your ugly clownsuits

I don't see many people having issues with it though. I guess it's because the series became first popular with Tri

But FU sold 5.5m copies while Tri only sold 2.22m

Because the dust have already settled down and by the end of the day it's still a monhun game?
At the time there was much ruckus about 50 def and 4u release.
Now, for people who still stayed in these threads after all these years and for the series's newcomers that know jack shit about fu outside of rumors in the community it isn't that much relevant to talk about.

I'd consider myself a newcomer, I didn't play my first MH until like 2 years ago

FU is overrated tbh

Why?
I'd much rather have a touched up FU with some of the new improvements in gameplay and mechanics than XX

Yeah I won't argue that FU's better X/XX, but I find it inferior to both 3U and 4U.

Now reread my sentence which would make it obvious given the situation that for newcommers that actually go experience fu first hand this becomes a relevant topic. Relevant, but not whole lot important to create a productive flow of discussion in our state of stagnation, that will be reversed for while when XX will come out.

tbh i belieb ur a shitposting fam smh

>3U
Come on man, spoilering that is a sign of your awareness about the quality of you're taste/opinion ":^)".

Fuck, definitely need some sleep.

We could argue about it in a more sensible way tomorrow.

I liked water combat.

I came into this thread looking for you guys discussing about this and i find A SINGLE FUCKING POST.

What the fuck is wrong with all of you.
Guys, i don't think you understand what this means: there's no more clownsuiting anymore.
Clownsuit is aestetically GONE.

I mean, everyone is going to clownsuit and minmax harder than ever before, but now you can just transmog each piece of armor into looking like something else so everyone can finally look like they're wearing full, proper, aestetically pleasing sets while being tryhards underneath.

Am i literally the only person here that thinks this is a big fucking deal?
Clownsuiting looked so ugly that during this entire series i've always exclusively worn full sets, and tried to work around their limitations.
Now i'm free to mix shit and still make it all look coherent.
This is fucking huge, why the fuck is nobody here talking about it?

By the way since i can already predict 10+ people asking "whut, what is this, how does it work, first time i hear of this" here's how it works:

-Hit G rank
-An NPC unlocks
-He can change visually any piece of armor into any other piece of armor keeping the stats, slots, skills of the first piece of armor
-You must actually craft the piece of armor you want the other one to transmog into
-It costs additional money and mats depending on the pieces, too
-Once it's done the icon and name color will change to indicate that it's a fusion
-Afterwards you can separate the two pieces into two separate entities again, but you won't be refunded of the money and mats you used in the transmog

How about they put it in not a horrible game first?

Are you that famous autist i've heard about that posts in these generals exclusively to shit on the newer games non stop and never actually discuss anything?
Why is everyone in these generals the biggest autist in all of Holla Forums?

No? I just don't like the addition of styles and hunter arts, they really take away from the game

Fuck yes.
Silverwind set ninja squad assemble

I am soloing named monsters by using Silverwind's set and Slash Sword. I tried using Charge Axe but I hate the fact that there are some strong attacks that I can't block. Does guard or guard up help and make me block em? Like RedHelm and his fucking punches.

WHAT
Although ironically this might become a negative for me personally, since I actually enjoyed spending hours in athena's ASS making up custom sets that looked interesting (or at least sylistically coherent) and still maintained decent skill sets. It's good that there will be less clown suit players around when playing online though, but then you have to wonder about what all the players who go around in rainbow tinted WoW-tier looking armors with garbage skills will be making.
I hope we'll get to see more uncommon armors making appearances though and not just full set rathalos/narga/whatever that seem to be popular. Still very happy to hear this, thanks for letting us know, I know I'll be making a set with chain or alloy pieces as a main focus at some point.

Personally I haven't really tried silverwind with counter/guard point sets but guard+1 is always helpful, to the point where it can provide help with offense more than actual offensive skills. Guard boost isn't really as useful though on anything aside from maybe gravios, but I don't remember about whether you need it for the air slashes silverwind does, I'm pretty sure you don't. When you say you can't block though, do you mean that you have huge recoil and take chip damage or that the attack straight up hits you and knocks you over for full damage as if you weren't blocking? Stamina management can also be an issue for strong attacks as they can sometimes need a lot of stamina to block, like about 60-80 points or so I think.
To clarify, yes guard+ will help you block heavy hits, while guard boost will only help you block completely unblockable moves, which are basically only lasers and gas clouds.

In the end it doesn't really mattress which game you started on, as long as you're having fun.

Nope.
Dodge that shit using Bushido or use evade extender to stay away from those moves.
If your armor isn't level 6 and hasn't got Silverwind Soul so you don't have evasion +2 you are just going to have to predict and move beforehand.

Try using Guard+2 with a Lance or any shielded weapon with Redhelm and you'll regret it as your stamina gets pissed away very fast unless you use dash juice.

The Silverwind set excels at damage avoidance and in a skilled players hands with Guild style it's OP as fuck.

Get gud or go home.

Then why don't you just pick guild style and don't put anything in your arts?

Typically guard+1/2 isn't used primarily as a defensive technique, which should still be your side step, but as an alternative to evasion +1/2 in that it can be used to turn defensive situations into offensive opportunities. Really since he talks about blocking 'heavy hits' though it's true that guard+ wouldn't help in any meaningful way, since heavy hits should only be blocked as a last resort.

Yes, exactly. If it is that case, I'll just have to just evade.

The thing is, I wanted to master the art guard point in striker style when I am switching between axe and shield mode, but since as you say that it won't be beneficial, I guess I'll just roll silverwind charge axe without giving a damn about guard points. Guess I'll change from striker to bushido.

How does evasion 2 affect bushido style? Does it extend the just dodge timing?

Anyone know of an MHG to MHX save converter? I'm visiting Japan for a couple weeks, and figured I'd want to play on the train to experience it how Capcom wanted it to be experienced.

Stick with this, striker CB has better damage potential than adept and is also very fun style which no other weapon is quite the same as. Adept CB is fun too (adept blocking is practically like an easier royal guard), but it is very monotonous and oversimplifies the game like adept does to any weapon.
It will be useful but it will not be very useful against blocking heavy hits. What it will do is turn medium and light hits that would otherwise cause stagger, chip damage or partial stagger to be guard point-able or otherwise reliably blockable, meaning you can be more aggressive, take more risks and get more use out of what your weapon has going for it.
I'm guessing you mean the second part (full damage w/ no block animation), in which case guard+ would actually help you since it will reduce the impact category and by extension reduce the stamina requirements, meaning you have more room for error if you're still unfamiliar with the monster and your weapon. Although it is ideal to move out of the way rather than block, the shield exists for a reason and taking a heavy hit on it is no worse than using a panic dive to get yourself out of a bad situation. The only time when it is never a good idea to block is when a monster uses multiple hits, if you see a multi hit attack coming and you absolutely can't move out of the way then you're better off taking the first hit and getting up with your stamina intact than losing all your stamina and taking damage anyway.
Evasion+ has no affect on bushido, but evasion+2 gives you enough i-frames to dodge through just about everything on any style, so you could use it to play striker while ignoring guard points, and it would be helpful for staying safe in axe mode.

Remember that monster hunter isn't about winning, it's about enjoying the game, so you should never give up on a playstyle you like just because a better playstyle exists. Otherwise there would be nothing online but hame rooms and aerial pellet hbg

How do you unlock Fatalis in FU?

fucking flag

Well, that is one thing I hate about it. Why can't we have a new weapon, Great Axe? Charge axe is great, but the gameplay is tied to its sword and shield phase. Slash Axe is also great, but it's now Slash Sword thanks to the stupidly OP arts.

So yeah, how about an Axe exclusive weapon?

Wait, you don't want to play with guard point?
Well then definitely just use adept then, all you have to do is stand around in sword mode and press r a few times, then you can spam adept dodge->a for as long as you want in axe mode.
Switch axe was always switch sword, not because of the new arts but because of the motion values and attack rate.

I am trying, but most of the named monsters hit so hard, there is no point in blocking them. So now I am going to try silverwind set with striker CB. I just finished playing with adept with the hellblade gear set, it wasn't pretty 40 fucking minutes till I finished drilltusk lvl 8. I got used so much to dodging attacks in silverwind that I came to hate adept.

Never mind.
You only have to beat all the basic training missions once.

What is the point of the axe mode, then? Just a longer reach? Is the stamina combo even worth it? I really like the weapon, but after playing sword mode only, it gets really boring. I hope SA's brave mode fix this by increasing the switch attack's motion values.

Well, again, guard+ will make a difference for that. Maybe it won't make enough of a difference to matter but it will make some sort of difference.
Either way just get guard+1/2 alone on a cheap set to test it out without saving. Play against silverwind or whatever for a couple of minutes to get a feel for it then reset. If you don't feel like it helps you at all then don't bother with the skills, if you liked it you can make a proper set. I mean worst case scenario is that you waste some mats on a set you don't end up liking.

>I liked water combat.
Exactly.

I'll just list a few things that drag that feature down

Basically, but unlike earlier or latter games in the series, I believe, FU is the perfect example of honed gameplay and artsyle. Sure, it's a bit saddening that part of that is gone, but it's offset by how much monhun we are getting. Not many series can be proud of staying in it's niche for this long.

I charrenge you to get the ambitious piercing! The reward is loads of monkey dick fun.

you really think that people with no skill clownsuits will bother crafting 5 additional pieces of armor + pay extra mats?

Well, they did bother farming white fatalis, mizuha shin, excello and star knight in big guy. And trojan horses aren't desirable regardless of how it's unlikely to occur.

Except they didn't? At worst you'd see them with one piece of these and the rest off random G1-G3 monsters. You should know that these people just craft whatever's available and doesn't take mats off their weapon tree.

Except they did. Those 4 sets were a signal, that a player might be fucking awful even if they didn't have obvious giveaways that were tied with them. And they were all over the fucking place, at least 3 times more frequent than whom you are talking about. More over, I'd probably take a no skill clownsuit shitter on a hunt over a white fatalis 28.

They were more of a signal that the guy had edited some armors for himself in more than anything. the Fatalis ones specifically.

So does this new Fashion thing mean I can finally dress up as the Rainbow Gourmew Chef and actually deal damage?
Sounds good.

take this to that /mon/ board that needs help

Because the game is obviously designed around them? It still doesn't change the massive HP bloat that X/XX have (I'm looking at you Azure Rath with more HP than a G-rank Deviljho)
Saying "lol just ignore it" doesn't remove the feature, especially with the new fronti- I mean G-rank monsters.

I seriously hope MH5 is a return to MH4 style, as opposed to the current absolute evade, 3 bad styles 1 good style nonsense.

In my opinion the over all style of the game dipped as early as FU, but FU was still a continuation of the first gen, as opposed to third gen, which is almost a re-boot of the series thematically. In a way, you could argue that FU is more of gen 1.5, rather than an independent entity like the future generations are (3rd - thematically independent, 4th - mechanically independent).
As for why I felt FU declined from previous games a few key reasons would be the introduction of a multitude of classical dragons, heavily detracting from the prehistoric ecosystem/jurassic park theme, a noticeable but not significant reduction in the character given to landscapes and a dramatic reduction in the amount of character given to music. What's interesting though is that most of these came from the transition from Dos to P2, not from gen 1 to gen 2. With this I argue that FU is not the perfect example of artstyle which leaves your other belief, that FU is the perfect example of honed gameplay.
Are you absolutely sure you want to argue that freedom unite has perfectly honed gameplay… ?

In other words I believe MHps2 or MHDos to be examples of the apex in artstyle, while MH3U would most likely be the best example of honed gameplay. However I would agree that FU probably has the best balance of both, which I think might be what you're trying to say.

Why do you continue to push this after half a dozen people have given you points to the contrary? You wont to be able to farm (you)s forever with this.

And I gave examples to which the response was… "well if you want to gimp yourself you totally can!"

I liked the silky smooth 40-50 fps. 4th gen's framerate sucks. 4th gen's music sucks too, although a few of the new tracks in MHX were nice. I'd like mounting of not for the fact that it's the reason Copypaste Hollow exists, and that shitty fucking map will never go away.

Styles I have no problem with, but I take pretty big objection to some of MHX's base moveset changes. Lance is totally and utterly ruined for everything but Striker - - not because of styles, but because of the God awful new third poke.

That.
No no no no, please no. 3U has lost a few gameplay features and fucked up on a few fronts so much that the impact from improvements that it had can be explained in "one step forward, 2 step backwards". Most notable examples of steps backwards are
I wont talk about 50 def and fixed hitboxes as something objectively bad, but I see how the former can be viewed as such and the latter I feel had bad influences.
It's actually just me hopping ids and another guy (you), but he is still an idiot for ignoring my dialog with 7443c8(unless they are the same person, which I give a benefit of the doubt for kore no user ga konna ni aho wake ga nai), which failed exceptionally in building a case for the theory by making plausible the reasoning for why it is wrong.

How exactly?
Doesn't seem reasonable for me. Especially since excellos and star knight's were mainly equipped by frenchies which had no reputation behind them of being dirty cheaters.

nice
other than that, I don't understand what are you replying to.

When it's obviously not? Aerial is completely ignored in terms of balancing monster moves according to it and balance of adept is simply double moves with awkward timing, that's pretty much it for "a design built around styles". Sure, weapon specific HAs do make some difference, but not enough to warrant "the guild style has been ruined" complaint and striker isn't whole lot different. Absolute evasion though, sure, but you are the one to blame for accepting it and adept into your life.

To be fair you shouldn't be playing the version with the 50 def to begin with

To be fair it's easier to compensate for 50 def, than for a complete lack of a foreign language knowledge.

Perhaps, but you need to learn Japanese anyway for vidya as a whole.

If I were suffering the lack of it, sure. But I don't, and doubt that I will in a nearly observable future, for even the games that I dig I've had to lay them down instead of 100% or even just finishing them, since there is so much good shit out there across dos-current generations of games.
When I tried to ask what is the magical parallel vidya world that japanese knowledge is hiding from us outside of jrpgs and anime/manga related franchises I'm not interested in in "you can't learn japanese" threads they struggled to name even the 1/100th of what for example exploring a new console platform could offer.
That,
could be an argument if there was some obvious gold mine of, for example, quality unique indie games. But there is none and exploring comiket(which no one is mentioning these days even as an answer for the question above) entry library is equal to exploring just indie library which I'm way, way far from going through. I'll repeat, that's for just exploring.

The .CIA is up on MEGA for MHXX.

To be fair, since I play everything in Japanese to begin with, it's hard for me to give specific examples because I don't really bother keeping up with what does and doesn't get foreignizations, and what specifically is wrong with the foreignizations that do happen. Personally, I think it's worth it to not be dependent on the powers that be deeming fit to release an English version of a game and hoping they don't cut half the content, or introduce game/system breaking glitches, or rewrite everything because they get paid more for changing shit than they do for faithfully translating.

If you can't specifically pinpoint how much it is detrimental for me to not know jap, then you fail to provide a strong argument for its usefulness.
But as I've said, I'm not dependent on such things, since I have seemingly infinite number of games I want to play next. If a recently coming out good game(in my opinion) has suffered foreignization, as long as it's not something extremely niche I dig - I can just switch my attention to pretty much anything else that doesn't have that flaw. Or if it's unavoidable, most of the time it doesn't even matter enough since rarely does that ever affect the meat of the game. In another words, rarely is a translated game censored or maliciously butchered if we take overall amount of translated games and I don't care how much it is too frequent for someones liking in a moral sense, for it to affect my gaming experience.
I'm not saying that I support those practices, what I'm saying is, is that practically it doesn't make a difference for me.

I admit this, and apologize.

This is the opposite impression I've gotten considering everytime anything gets foreignized it brews a shitstorm of glitches and cut content, but then the only time I hear about games getting foreignized at all is when they're brought up here really, so maybe it's just the old fact that bad news stands out more than good news.

It isn't exactly me you should be apologizing. Well, apologizing doesn't even mean a thing if you don't do anything about it. I believe you are the same *checks the ID of a 2nd post*, yup, you are the guy that constantly brings this up for when its not relevant enough.
You'd probably be able to count the games we are talking about on your hands and feet, when there are at least 10 times as much games that didn't suffer the same fate that someone talking about this could enjoy.

You're that same Japanese user from the Vita threads, right?

I'M READY

How do i tell whats going on when its in japanese???

...

You just remember where all the menus were in MHG, and pray to god they haven't swapped anything.

Yeah I got to like the 4th tier of single player quests in X before that translation patch came out. If you've played enough MH you should be fine. Speaking of is there anyone mentioning putting out a fan-translation of the menus and stuff since there is no localization announced yet?

I'm trying to get an answer in a Discord for 3DS translations.
I'm not well versed in the tool they use, but I'm trying to ascertain whether the old MHX translation can be used to kind of copy paste the translations already made.

Oh shit she has a nendoroid? I need to get one.

God, that Diablos urgent was a bit of a cunt. We G-rank now, though.

I'm going back to HR Vilage for a lil bit though.

Get it on download, I'll call it in.

This seriously need like half the frames on windup, it's fucking greatsword-charge tier slow for a move with 45 motion. That's not a bad motion value but 2 regular pokes are twice as fast and already have 50-57mv. Like, maybe they were trying to push lance as an element/status dealer more by increasing hitcount, but if that's the case then why is the raw going up and actual attack speed going down? I was having fun using lance's new turnaround finish and jump charge moves too, and I'm not entirely sure I'm happy about striker lance being a bullfangoplos on crack even if it does obliterate just about everything with 0 effort.
I found myself liking Najarala/primal forest theme quite a bit but the music was really weak in 4U, to the point where I muted it most of the time.

I'm not entirely sold on those complaints since they are more arguments about the arrangement of content, but, although I had little issue with underwater combat, it isn't a good example of 'honed gameplay' definitely. Honed gameplay however is where the argument sits, and aside from underwater combat, weapon movement, monster movement and hunter/monster interactions in their raw form were improved dramatically from FU without the loss of variety that comes with Tri or the loss of challenge that comes with P3rd. Again, when considering the games wholistically FU still wins out, but in a purely mechanical sense I still believe 3U is largely the best or 'most honed' in the series. 4th gen is a different argument though as there is plenty to argue on how it might be more entertaining but it certainly isn't as well honed and plays in a distinctly different manner to the first 3 generations.

Why is Jhen mohran any worse than ShenGaorenVillage&ShenGaorenLow&SHenGaorenHigh&LaoVillage&LaoLow&LaoHigh&AshLao? Personally I found the sand sea setting to be kind of dull (fighting Ceadeus over an actual ocean and then repelling him over a shallow beach would've been much more interesting, although maybe more illogical) but at least the battle actually made use the equipment on the boat for half the fight and wasn't a 20 minute belly slapping/waiting contest followed by a 2 minute beatdown.

The transition from 2nd to 3rd gen is 10x more noticable,
and what's wrong with the music in FU?

The dream game would be something like a 1st/2nd gen game with the some of later games gameplay and mechanics improvements

I agree, but that isn't the point I was trying to argue.

I'm not trying to say the music is bad, only less colourful. Perhaps a good way to put it is that the music is more normalized around combat in general rather than evoking the atmosphere of the environment or monster, (something to do with the tempo and instrumentation maybe?) but in the end I've never studied music in any detail so this barely amounts to more than opinion.

Some of the stronger examples (as far as I believe) are:
Gravios/Volcano (Dos) youtube.com/watch?v=mrS9eESUuJ0
Gravios?/Volcano (FU) youtube.com/watch?v=3X-x-CYnEIY

Desert/D.Hermitaur (Dos) youtube.com/watch?v=8iUGffbzHUA&
Desert/D.Hermitaur? (FU) youtube.com/watch?v=wDlUhnrFhZo
But there are weaker tracks from dos too, like the counterpart to the Jungle/Congalala track you posted, 'dramatic reduction' might have been too much of an exaggeration.

tbh this is just splitting hairs now.
Maybe I'm biased but I still think that the FU examples are better than the Dos ones, especially since the FU Desert and Jungle themes are my among my favourite tracks for the entire series.
Also Pokke's theme is the best/comfiest village theme in the series though I really like Kokoto as well

Yeah, nah, not really. There were nerfs and irrelevant additions that drag down what was actually improved, making it a so so improvement, just a step towards 4u's finishing touch.
Name exactly what do you mean by this, because I feel like I just might call bullshit on this one. Partially at least.
That is, if we take out underwater combat. I repeat, IF we take out underwater combat out of equation. But even then I would argue on this. Gameplay pacing is horrible, compared to FU. Sure, you could argue that it is still an argument towards arrangement of content, but if arrangement of paint on a canvas is retarded, then picture would be god awful regardless of quality of materials that were used in process. If Monster Hunter was almost like a simulator with tons of customization options for creating arenas where you fight monsters, then sure, you could ignore how buttons were arranged, or how you can ignore a huge gameplay feature, because you can customize it out, but that's not the case. Music was eh, aestetics were meh, quest arrangement was decent enough to just barely pass, some important to the formula gameplay content was cut or simplified, some was improved, horrible and good ideas were introduced(in the end leading to an improvement of sorts). Combine that all together and it isn't as good as FU.
Exactly because of this, while belly tickling could be tweaked on the user side, boat equipment is just a static dps. And if it isn't high enough, well, you are pretty much fucked, since he doesn't like tickling at all. Thus you are pretty much forced into taking HBG and still wouldn't have a pleasant time, ignoring the fact that ammunition management isn't fun. At all.
Now that I think about it, dire miralis as a non aftergame\additional, but a mandatory monster is fucking retarded.

You mean how to get carried through a "Deliver 1 Potion" custom some random puts up in their room? You don't need to know how to cheat shit in when any random hall you join might have someone willing to hand out a piss-easy custom that gives you enough parts to make a dozen w. fatty sets and 6 gorillion hunter rank points.

Chances of them banning you if you go online or even have it illegally before release date?

Isn't it out already in Japan? I thought it came out on the 15th

18th, it's out today.

freeShop when?

Believe me, I'm checking

Finished MH3U and MH4U ( all the way up to the final G ranks + events ) now waiting for MHGU. Bow main. I was the asshole with the Kelbi Spam on 3U. As for 4U DB's , Bow of course and weebsword.

Skip the westernshit and just get MHXX. Bushido Bow was top tier in MHX, you'll love it. Everything gets power shot.

There has never been a better time.

RRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

help

There was, when sony cucked out crapcom out of localizing p3rd and it was uncertain for fans when the next game would come if ever. MHXX is obviously getting a localization in about a year if not in less than.

You still didn't explain why wouldn't it give gorillion relics and relic decorations on top of that and why wouldn't people use that to their advantage.
And while it is still a possibility it actually doesn't even matter if they cheated it in, got someone who helped them through custom quests or got carried on actual quest. The fact is that I saw loads of faggots with these sets with obvious giveaways that they don't know jack shit about what they are doing. And if they start camouflaging it would be pain in the ass to rat them out on first sight. I'd need to carefully inspect every single person that joins my room which is bollocks.

Be glad that you didn't lose save data.

I think you're spending way too much time playing with randoms in the first place if you're so worried about how to kick shitters. The solution is the same that it has always been: play with friends you know or solo hunt. The online aspect of Monster Hunter is just an incidental bonus, meant for occasionally fucking around with friends and facerolling when you're not playing seriously (e.g. alone).

Sure, that would be an easy solution if I wasn't a сукаблядьland citizen. Decent people that play monhun that I know are from burgerclap and even then, they don't stay for long playing monhun after beating g3(especially since they jump on a train way before I even buy a ticket). What I'm trying to say here, that's not an option I can consider at all.
Randoms can be way better than friends and don't require any social links to be held with them. They join 24/7 and likely as motivated to do the quest as you are, if not more. The only requirements for them are "be a decent host"(check) and "don't make the team morale drop", which may be counter intuitive.
I do, quite frequently, but I'd rather do online balanced quests online than get burned out by farming endgame 30 minute quests.

Custom quests can't give relics.

You should be doing this anyways as mixed sets can be minmaxed shit instead of shitters.

U shua kno wha ya talkin bout m8?

1. Not every single person is clownsuiting.
2. I could recognize the parts and what they do just by their appearance. For example, a person in mismatched g1 armor looks way more suspicious than someone that has teo and uka parts thrown in.
3. If I am unable to form a whole picture from parts alone, I can recognize the mainstream cookie cutter clownsuits just by the looks.
So no, I didn't have to inspect literally every single fucking person that joins my lobby before and now I have to.

Boris, in russia there's enough people to play monster hunter with you. In the real forest. I don't believe you need video games.

Okay, now go in game and try to collect those relics, please. See what happens.

gib mons

Alright, I may agree, since I didn't actually do this and don't know every single detail. And I could see why relics themselves wouldn't actually work, but. But the point still stands for charms and relic decorations.

Come on man, we are discussing here, uhmm, 1.5ish world problems? Of course there are probably better ways to spend my time than playing some videogames. Come on, it's Holla Forums ffs.
Now, to take your reply literally, no, there aren't many 3ds fans that live in forest. Hell, there are barely any people in the capital with the console.
To take your reply less literally, the parts where I live in are too urbanized to have any monsters or even just creatures to hunt enjoyably.

New monster, spoilered in case you don't want to see it yet

...

Now that is just fucking silly

Sauce?

...

MHXX

I've never really understood if people were joking about this or not. I mained HH in 4U and was constantly getting sub-20 hunt times.

it's comparatively. HH was the lowest damage weapon in the game

Because everybody else was getting sub 10 minute hunts.

EDF 5

I mean the video

Almost forgot to post this too

Pleb. But still better than unrepentant ASSclowning

What the hell is going on over there?

Now that's just stupid. I'm skipping this game.

I love it so much for the fact that it triggers all of the non-weeaboos. You shouldn't be playing Monster Hunter to begin with.

WHAITU PIGGU GO HOOOOOOOME

>Flashbombing it Probably won't flinch it
I see potential to fuck this thing up with good timing unless its a canned event where the status effects take effect after its done with it's really long set up animation.

Brave style is kinda fun.

Holy shit

And is it just my imagination or did they manage to improve the framerate a little compared to MHX? Regular town areas feel less choppy to me.

I'm on n3ds and it runs the same as before as far as I can tell. It's still capped at 30fps.

Is there a point to bushido now that there is Brave?

It's still the best 100% pure defensive art for most weapons, but I mean

Also is Diablos really G rank? He's not doing much damage at all. I remember the crab in 4U pushing my shit in. Maybe I'm just gimped from all the MHX-endgame silver Rath armor pieces…

X/Gen was pretty mediocre and this is just terrible

Has the hunting horn received any kind of buff in double cross?

...

Yeah, alchemy style makes it useless more or less so you don't have to pick it anymore

Yeah, no. I'm out.

And here everyone was hoping it would be this.

Is that a fucking Equal Dragon?

>not taking pride in being a part of THE infamous amonymius hacker group

...

...

Seems like it.

They played everyone like a god damn fiddle

I don't see it on freeshop, where is a download?

You have to manually scan the QR code on 3ds.titlekey with FBI to install it. freeShop dropped the ball and are totally AWOL on this one.

Thanks for the info, hopefully this doesn't mean freeshop is dead.

Are there any pictures of the new armor sets and/or skills for them yet?

I guess after testing it, I still prefer bushido S&S, since Brave lacks the backleap and the bushido counter has knockdown.

No

...

What the fuck Kiranico, this is crap.

I use Ping's Dex, the newer versions default to English but you can fix it quickly

HOLY SHIT

NYANTAS CAN AIM THE BOOMERANG NOW

What part of

"This man made dragon was pieced together using parts harvested from over thirty mature dragons."

implies that it's a giant heap of random junk controlled by an insect?

Well, if you piece together parts from over thirty mature dragons and weld it together with metal, how wouldn't it look like random junk if the actual pieces rot out of the construction? And subsequently make place for a giant mantis to be a pilot of the exoskeletin.
Check and mate, m8.

...

What part of "rot out" do you not understand?

Then it's not much of an equal dragon weapon anymore, is it?

So you are agreeing that it can be remnants of an EDW?

That's not the same as it being an actual functional EDW.

...

At this point you are just arguing semantics that don't even help your point.
What does it matter if it's EDW in it's former form or what's left of it? For who it matters, it's still an EDW until you prove it otherwise which you've failed to do by agreeing with my train of logic.

I can agree that it can be the remnants of and EDW in the same way that this is the remnants of a T-rex. But is it a living breathing t-rex? Nope.
Functionally it's not an EDW anymore. It's an insect using the scrap of an EDW as it's home, nothing more, nothing less.

fuck

Look man, it isn't fun when you are agreeing on pretty much every single point I make. Down to you continuing arguing semantics.
And you know what I personally agree with your I mean my point that it's an insect that uses the scrap of an EDW as it's home. Because it's representative of what it is. It's an insect that uses the scrap of an EDW as it's home and nothing else.
And like I've said, people can omit the "insect driving the scrap of an _ as it's home" because what's important to them is a link with EDW, so just let them call it an EDW, don't be so autistic about it.

Still
By your logic these two would be the same.

or rather, it would be pointless to try and differentiate between them

Well, they both use the same parts that let them use the same moves that a hunter can avoid by using the same skills and strategies.
And if you are making that comparison as an argument here, then, who implies that a creature using the monoblos skull/EDW is relevant to the name of the tool they are using?

They don't.

So you're saying that the Daimyo Hermitaur might just as well be called The Monoblos?

Actually, the creature is not using an EDW, at best it's only using the armour of an EDW.

For all we know it might not be from an EDW at all, it could just as well be random pieces of scrap that the insect has collected over time.

I, I just have no words for how far this has went and how it still continues to deliver.

Hermitaur uses the monoblos skull to charge, burrow and to bash with it by doing side to side motions(deviant).
Monoblos uses it's skull to charge, burrow and to bash with it by doing side to side motions.
To avoid charges you simply need to strafe. To avoid getting hit by attacks followed after burrowing you just need to not stand still, and tremor res would definitely help with either of the case. And when they try to bash you, you generally would prefer to stay the fuck away.
Surely, yes, I've made a mistake by saying "parts" instead of "part", but then it would be obvious what I've meant when I said

I'm also baffled that I have to explain this. No, that would be obvious that it's not what I have meant if you read carefully. Daimyo Hermitaur and Monoblos have the same tool, that they use similarly that has the same name which is "monoblos's skull", like EDW which either was used by human or is used by mantis to fight their foe.

Now for something not so retarded.
Yes, that assessment to a semantic distinction is partially right. But it can be assumed that it's using an EDW exoskeleteen in the same way as humans piloted an EDW, meaning that it has all the same functionality, or at least all of the important to be called the same.
But sure, It would be partially missrepresentative to call an "EDW exoskeleteen" just an "EDW", but the meaning wouldn't be lost on an observer, because he can clearly see the distinction by himself without the need to rely on excessive terminology.

Fucking christ, how long it took you to come to that simple argument that dismantles the credibility of pretty much the whole lore building around EDW that you have already agreed with, even though your original point was to laugh and be smug at lorefags when it turns out to be that the monster has nothing to do with EDW. I even tried to hint at this here , but damn you chose to go the wrong direction.
BRAVO

MENU TRANSLATIONS FUCKING WHEN

It wasn't.
If I have to explain it to you: Guts is laughing in despair in that picture

Actually it doesn't it uses it's claws :^). The ceanataur uses the same attack without a Monoblos skull on it's back.

That's true with any attack/charge from any monster.
That's true for any monster that can has burrow attacks. The Monoblos and Hermitaur attack patterns aren't even similar

Oh, but I clearly remember that the same kind of setup was used for some other topic. A person who tries to predict shit with guts related picture and how he will be smug, the thing comes true, the person is smug. So I assumed you are the same person trying to do the same shit.
And I'm hardly convinced that when you've said "No" here and ">implying capcom wasn't just baiting us" here, you were concerned about how EDW is semantically different from EDW exoskeleteen. I think it clearly meant "this is not an EDW, and you are bunch of gullible idiots for falling for the capcom's trick". I wanted to give you this, but then you've decided to continue. So nah. Nice goalpost moving there pal :^).

Alright, I agree that this difference exists. But they both use the skull for the same kind of action - thrust attack or charge, because it's the same thing and has the same characteristics.
Well, not everyone uses the same tools identically similar, tools offer same range of options that the user utilizes to how it is comfortable to him.

These are some great assumptions on your part. Firstly armour =/= exoskeleton. Secondly, nowhere is it implied that humans "piloted" the EDW as if it was a giant robot, It would be more likely if humans would've ridden on top if it or it could even have been fully autonomous like some sort of Frankenstein's-esque monster is it sounds like it is implied to be.

The important parts seem to have been the flesh of the dragons used to make it not the pieces of metal strapped to it, which has now presumably rotted away.

I'm not sure which one of us is the sperg anymroe…
You misinterpreted my first post entirely.

Again with this retarded logic.
As if two different people can't use the same reaction pic to convey two different reaction depending on the context.

At this point it might as well be called Bait Dragon Weapon because that's all it has done thus far.

These are some great assumptions on your part. Nowhere was it implied that the result was a living sentient thing covered in armor, unlike it being a tool which is heavily implied by the name Equal Dragon Weapon. So it's within reason to assume that it was piloted.
Well, the important things I was talking about isn't parts, but the functionality. So it doesn't exactly matter if the parts have rotted or not. Well, alright, it doesn't look like it has wings anymore, but I wouldn't be so sure about it flying in the first place.

That's not the logic, that's a statement that is then supported by arguments that you didn't even try to address.
It's more than just that, it's a situation, an attitude. And on top of that, Holla Forums isn't that big for my assumption to not be an unreasonable one.

Exactly, because the implication here seems to be that it's some sort of Frankenstein's-esque monster.

Which it can still be.

Then where would it have been piloted from?

But the armor left doesn't constitute any of the "functional" parts of the EDW.

Yes, but there are far more than 2 people here.

See that bulge in the chest? Exactly where the mantis is controlling it from now.
Assuming it was armor. Exoskeleteen can function fine even without the meat.
Yes, that's why I also included the same situation, attitude and picture type that was used. But then, there is also stuff like this and the current conversation we are still having, where you still try to argue that it's not an EDW.

Also if we are going to use the name like this even tho it's full on engrish then it could just as well imply that it was supposed to be wielded like a giant fucking sword, which would fit best with the theme of the entire series.

>See that bulge in the chest, you can pilot it :^)?
I actually don't.

Assuming that it is indeed exoskeleton, which it is nowhere even remotely implied.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled EDW autism session for a special announcement:

I don't disagree.
Check you're eyes then.
No definitive way of how EDW operated was implied really. So if this turns out to be an EDW which it is, then it likely was an exoskeleteen based on how the mantis is able to operate it.

Finally. Except ODS still can't take screens without shitting itself.

What does it actually say, for us who can't read moon

It using a powered exoskeleton is just that much more far fetched than it just using regular mail.

Good, because it's the best suggestion thus far.

Holy fucking shit, you insufferable moron.
Watch the damn footage and try to explain to me how there's any way to either fill the limbs of the scrap pile with muscle or drape them over.
Protip: eat a dick
It doesn't even have remotely the same range of motion as the frankenstein-dragon.

I don't know I can't read moon either. It just removes the UI overlay so you can see the final kill hit like you used to be able to do way back in the PSP games, but they took out for no reason at all in the 3rd and 4th gen.

So far I've liked every single thing I've seen in MHXX except for one: the cute 10/10 tomboyish/bookworm girl Research Ship Captain isn't a girl.

Not really, since it having armor, thus being a living somewhat sentient being would imply a technology far more advanced than a mere exoskeleteen.
If taken seriously, sure, which no one should.

Thank you.
By making a metallic carcass that is embedded into the tissues, that acts like bones, muscles and armor?
How would you know what range of motion an EDW had?

It already has bones.
By looking at it and not being a mouth breather. See

Yes, especially since it's never even implied that it is using a powered exoskeleton in the fist place.

Whether that's true or not doesn't change the fact that it is never even implied to use it.

than why should anyone take your argument seriously?
It being a giant fucking GS makes more sense considering the entire theme of the series.

MHXX confirmed to have the most endgame content of any MH to date.

Yes, from several different creatures that don't quite match.
Doesn't tell me much. Sure, I could see how this particular may look outofshape differently compared to what mantis is operating. But 1. mechanical limbs could bend in another direction if nothing is preventing it from, like biological tissue for example; and 2. it might as well be an entirely different EDW with it's own range of motion, because the one in the picture was claimed to be already recovered and secured, unlike the one used by mantis.

Not much was implied in the first place. So it's feasible to believe both in exoskeleteen powered by dragon parts and a necromancy dragon and not contradict the sources.
I dunno why are you taking me seriously. I don't take my ideas seriously, which should've been obvious from the start. Why would I argue them then? Because it's more fun that way?

Doesn't quite match with potential that GQs have offered, but we'll see. It's definitely looks at least on par with.

GQ's were fundamentally broken because of Relics. There was ZERO variation in the endgame because everybody settled on Rajang and only Rajang and if you don't Rajang then you don't get the best Relics. It was boring.

Don't play with everyone then? Run your own halls, search for unique GQs, play for goals other than "get the top raw weapon". If you'd do this you'd find that double raj isn't really a king of all GQs. Especially since even by following everyone pubs tended to choke on em.

It's implied that it's a dragon that has been Frankensteined together from part of over thirty different dragons.
There's literally no evidence for this supposed exoskeleton because you pulled it out of your ass.

Except one of those assumptions are completely baseless.
You could also believe that it was a giant masturbatory device without it contradicting anything of the above as well. too be fair, that's probably more likely than it using an exoskeleton

might as well take the chance to release all the pent up spergness
Also you're just wrong.

How the hell are they going to scale Hyper monster HP in MHXX?
Are we going to see massive HP numbers exceeding 14,500HP?
Please don't steal my shitty OC

Please, no.

...

You know that frankensteining and stitching something together has a small, but at the same time huge difference. Hope you'll figure it out on your own. Hint: one is more believable than the other.
The mantis operating EDW like it's an exoskeleteen for a dragon that's not there anymore?
Yeah, nah, you are just coming up with bullshit for the sake of trying to look like me. Keyword, trying. Because its not either an implied feature or an explanation for how something existing could logically work.

The mantis could do literally anything with it and it would not change the nature of the original EDW.

>Impying you can't just stick your dick in it's mouth.
The exoskeleton is also neither an implied feature nor is it an implied explanation on how the original EDW actually worked.

It's merely wearing the same clothes as the EDW.

Not really. Since we agree that what he uses is a scrap of EDW, then it's reasonable to think that it could've been used the same way. Because that's the only known way for us of how it is used or how it could've been used. It doesn't leave out other explanations as wrong, since it's not a definitive proof, but other explanations would require more or wilder assumptions to make them sound feasible. That's why exoskeleteen is one of the most believable ones out of the infinite. See Occam's razor.

We Holy Paladins now.

Too bad that it's never referred to as an EDW in game, nor does any of the mats that it gives seem to imply that it ever was.

At best it's just a visual reference to the old concept art.

Well, I would need proof that it's never hinted to be a part of EDW.

But yeah, that's the only argument that I have no comeback against other than pretending to be retarded, I mean shitposting, I mean funposting.

Well, I would need proof that it's never hinted to be a part of EDW.
For starters it's called 閤蟷螂アトラル・カ (Atlal Ka) and trying to make sense of the wiki I couldn't find anything that seemed to hint at it ever being an EDW tho I guess you'd have to read the actual in-game descriptions of the items to completely rule that out I mean there might be an easter egg there or something for you to read further into

We can at least pretend that the last 20 hours have been productive and well spent.

I had fun, so for me it was a time well spent. Thanks.

I even sat there at the start of the hunt and told myself "this is a capture hunt capture the monster don't kill it".

You're welcome.

...

How is that hard?

Obviously taking something that requires skills that you can't reach yet is a problem, but there are always weapons that don't require essentials or styles that let you bypass ones.

Use bow

...

If you never main a new weapon every time a new MH game comes out, how will you ever git gud with all the weapons? Sure you can play them all at the endgame, but nothing beats mastery that's gained through the actual gear progression of a fresh game.

I remember my first MH. I went totally ham, learning ALL the weapons. First GL, then LS, then Hammer, LBG/HBG, GS, SnS, DS… etc. I think I mained regular Lance, Bow, and HH in MH3U online, with some SnS and GS on the side.

I fucking love Lance, there's something inherently satisfying poking monsters with a giant stick, dancing around with backhops and counters.

Here's another one.

I think there must be some kind of pun in there. Or maybe the first kanji is just for flavor.

As per usual, the answer is all of them. Yes, even fucking cats.

Autistic TA grinding beats gear progression, which is not even a challenge after a few normally beaten games or just the FU alone.

That description mentions that what it's controlling is a machine, and that when it threads it together it looks bigger than it would normally look separated.

I'm not sure what to garner from it; it specifically says that it's controlling a machine, so it very well could be the EDW, but the bit about it looking bigger when the damn bug threads it together is a wrinkle in that too. There's definitely a hint that it's more than random junk though.

Mastery of the weapon doesn't have anything to do with "challenge" or TA runs. It has to do with growth and making the weapon completely second nature to yourself, which includes not only getting hours of experience using it but also understanding what the gear trees look like and what kinds of stats are good and bad for the weapon.

Wait I'm retarded, it might be saying that the bug uses the machine to make itself look bigger. I think that's probably more accurate.

It is *definitely* some sort of machine it's using, though. Not just random junk. The very first line is literally translated as "The golden colored "Heaven's Gate Mantis" (gonna say that, since it's a "praying mantis" and I don't know what the fuck they're getting at either) that makes its home in a machine."

Machine? Where? My nipponese is still shit tier.

機械 = きかい = machine.

Sounds like it's just picking stuff up as it goes along.

Ok, yeah, "Towering Royal Mantis" sounds is definitely better. Fuck the resolution in MHXX for kanji.

Google translate is a shit. Literally the first line is "The golden-colored Towering Royal Mantis that makes a machine its home."

not

What does my line actually translate to then?

Fucking hell, I hate the kanji resolution so fucking much.

I don't know. It's either "machine" or "castle ruins".

I'm guessing it IS "castle ruins" considering the damn bug's name though.

I'm most curious about that part.

I'm not sure how to feel about this, but I guess I'm gonna stick with it for a while.

Are you stupid?

For your TA to be successful not only do you need to master a weapon, but you also need to make the game your bitch.

Oh fucking PLEASE, TA's just reset every time they make a mistake or the monster uses "that one attack" that fucks up their run.

I don't understand how is that a counterargument. TAs don't learn from their mistakes? Well, I'd say that you are and idiot, because they would have quite the opposite motivation and would have a quite higher rate of encountering a mistake and trying to compensate for it. Smallest mistake costs you a run, where in a normal playthrough you can be a massive fuck up right until g3 and beyond.

You're not "making the game your bitch" by being a literal bitch and quitting every time it doesn't go your way. TAs are almost always the one single good run where the monster miraculously played nice out of 80 complete fucking failures where the monster behaved normally.

You can have all the luck in the world, but if you can't play, you can't do a proper TA run. If you don't extend your knowledge beyond common you can't be better than everyone. Yes, proper TAs are about good rng, but if you aren't better than a WR or at least your PB it's a failure, git gud, try again.

For the record, the 閣 is a kanji I've never seen by itself, I see it used a lot in reference to government/political shit though, as well as in the respectful title 閣下. Going to go with "lord" for the sake of trying to capture the respect/political aspect, but I'm not at all attached to that translation.

But in all fairness we are going to get hold of the data for these monsters at some point and it's not going to be pretty when we see those HP figures, especially for the Super deviants which are still going to have shit hitzones for gunning.

The weapons and armor skills will make up for it. From what I've seen they're not pulling any punches and 8 skill 900 Def sets will be all over the place.

Well as HR monsters had 5k hp… yes we're going to see 10K+ hp no doubt
