Part of why the game is shit could be length enhancing features such as the God awful hacking/xp system in NuSex, or virtually every damn element of Skyrim. You've also got to take account of the powerful effect of already paying money for something and wanting to get some use out of it on playtime.

Bearing in mind that my last data structures course was years ago, I might be wrong on some specifics but the general ideas for each sorting algorithm will be correct.

Selection sort: You go through the entire list of data, find the smallest unsorted member, and place it at the beginning. Important to note that this algorithm is an in-place sort, meaning that it doesn't create a new list while it's sorting, it manually edits the original list as it goes.

Insertion sort: Similar to selection sort, but instead of finding the smallest element each iteration, it simply puts the first unordered element where it needs to go in the sorted list. In other words, selection sort goes through the unordered list to find the smallest element and places it at the end of the sorted list; insertion sort just takes the first unsorted element and finds where it needs to go in the sorted list.

Quicksort: Take a random element from the unordered list. That's your pivot point. Place all elements less than that to its left, and all elements greater than it to its right. Then do the same thing with each of those two subsections, recursively repeating the operation until the entire list is sorted.

Mergesort: Take the unordered list, and break it into halves. Take each of those halves, and break them each down into halves, ad infinitum, until you are left with two individual elements. Sort those, merge them, and then do the same with their parent halves, all the way up the chain until you're merging the entire list.

Heap sort: I can't explain heaps. I barely fucking understand them myself. Wikipedia it.

Radix sort: Don't bother trying to understand it. It's uses are pretty esoteric. It's very efficient for the things it's used for, but it can't be used for much.

std::sort and std::stable_sort are the standard C++ library sorting algorithms. I'm not sure why they're included in the video, since if you compare the algorithms it's clear that std::sort is just QuickSort and stable_sort is just MergeSort. It's not as though C++ developers came up with their own sorting algorithm purely for C++.

Shell sort: Not sure how to explain this. It's a modified insertion sort, but whereas insertion sort looks for the first unsorted element, insertion sort looks at an element farther down the list. It's a pretty similar algorithm.

Bubble sort: Imagine you have a window into the unsorted list, but the window only shows two elements of that list. You go down the list, element by element, sorting each pair. When you get to the end of the list, you start over at the beginning. And then again. And then again. And then again. Until you finally have the list sorted.

Cocktail shaker sort: I had to look this up, I'd never heard of it. Go through the list, finding the largest unsorted element, and move it to the far right. On your way back to the left, find the smallest element, and drag it to the left. On your way back to the right, find the next largest element, and move it all the way to the right. And so on and so on.

Gnome sort: Also had to look this up. Based on what I see of the implementation, it's the retarded bastard child of insertion sort and bubble sort. Don't spend too much time looking into it.

Bitonic sort: Never heard of it, and looking into it, I don't fucking understand it.

Bogosort: Literal retardation. At its simplest, it boils down to, "Randomly mix shit up until it's all sorted."

Other user's explanation is too verbose. These are all different ways computers can sort lists of numbers. Most of them have useful applications. The visualisation makes a tone based on how high the number is, and the sounds you hear is the sorting algorithm (problem solving method) doing its work.
