Joint Pak 2, also known as Narodnaya Solyanka. It's hard as fuck, poorly translated, but has hundreds of hours of new content. Definitely would not recommend for beginners, it's the STALKER equivalent of having to choke yourself to cum.

If you're thinking of picking up the series and modding it, the best for SoC is AA 2.1 or AMK AE 1.4.1 (based on AA), CS would be the SRP+AO merge, CoP is kind of shit all around, but Arsenal Overhaul fixes the gunplay at least.

Releasing a game in the west requires the text be translated into English where feasible, then double checked, inserted, bug tested (some companies like NISA seem to think this step is fucking optional), etc. Fan-translations have to go through the same thing, though not having any money on the line (making the people that work on them "do-it-for-frees") slows them down a lot compared to actual releases.

I don't really remember. I didn't get all that far in when I played the girl. The lewdest I remember is, if you do one part of the story right because you can end up getting caught and skipping the whole segment, or you can pick to rescue the wrong girl, you get to see the redheaded tomboy in a maid outfit, serving tea and dancing and stuff. You can choose to spy on her as long as you want, until one of her captors asks for a kiss. Then you jump right in. Your character also calls her cute a few times. I can sympathize, I've had ridiculous chronic kidney stones for 2 years now. very rarely pass them, but it's like there's a fist full of razorblades in my left kidney at all times of the day. I'll probably kill myself soon I can't take this shit.

Ideally a company should have someone that is bilingual properly translate the lines; some companies admit that barely anyone knows any moon and they just look at a scene and rewrite, or use machine translations. Thing is, hard translating isn't always the most ideal thing, so an editor (or more than one) is brought in to try to clean up the script. This should just involve making stuff flow better in English (or whatever language), replace jokes or figures of speech that don't translate into western languages with equivalent ones, etc, but so many of these faggot editors give off a vibe of being failed authors that think they can write the game's story and dialogue better than the original author, so they fuck around a lot. Or they're trigger happy leftists and change and censor stuff they don't personally agree with and then blame it on an ESRB they didn't even try to have rate the base version of the game.

True. I'm not saying that they should just ship it out without testing the audio, just that it shouldn't take all that long. Though, if they had opted for dual audio from the getgo, I assume it would take a shorter time since testers could have reported findings much sooner.

I'll add that as far as the player's summon goes, it's dependent on how you answer some questions starting out (at least for SCS1; I think I've heard that SCS3 is much more straightforward about it). I wound up getting some flame demon who apparently knew the MC's mother when I was playing it.

I've had to go to the ER twice because the pain got so bad that I was not vomiting non-stop, couldn't keep any fluids down,and got completely dehydrated. Learned from the doctors that the pain center of the brain is right next to the nausea center, which is why if you're in bad enough pain, you will actually start tossing your cookies. Fucking terrible, but interesting nonetheless.

No insurance, and I'm already in the hole ~18k from two ER visits that didn't last longer than an hour and a half each time.

Chronic pain fucking sucks. A couple of years ago, I went with my father to get firewood and I tried to lift this log to position it so we could cut it. I didn't lift it right and I sprained my lower back or something, I have constant back pain. I also remember when I was a kid I tried to learn to skateboard. My inexperienced dumb ass tried to ride down this very steep hill and I dislocated my left shoulder and really scraped the fuck out of my left elbow. Another time I tried to drop into a half pipe and I bailed and landed hard on my left knee. All of these pains reverberate throughout my body from time to time and to various degrees. It fucking sucks, but at least I have over the counter acetaminophen.

Honestly, while there were still some shitters here and there, sixth and seventh gen seemed pretty damn good in terms of localization quality, and even weird games could readily get picked up, new IPs (for the west anyhow; Metal Saga for instance) having much more of a chance to be brought over. Holla Forums has LONG wanted a vidya crash not just because of the localization industry, but more-so the general decline in game quality. Unfortunately, that crash isn't likely to happen. The market is way too big compared to the Atari era, and casuals eat up all sorts of shit and the few times they do find a game to rightly take issue with, they don't learn from their experiences and will ahead and preorder the next clusterfuck that gets shilled at them.

If does crash, it at the very least will have to be in a different fashion than it did last time.

True, but everything has ups and downs so eventually there will be a crash, it might just take a long one. Will definitely be interesting to watch.

I'm really not sure if that's going to happen. There's still a few here and there (more-so in Japan), but it seems like with vidya now it has to AAA "half our budget went into marketing" tier development, or indie trash (admittedly not all indie games are trash, but they have a rightly earned stigma). AA would just get eaten up by AAA publishers or wouldn't be able to find publishers anyhow.

There's lots of ways it can be used, like Sin City did some neat shit with it, but in other ways it can make things seem more dramatic when proper lighting is used, like in High Noon and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Schindler's List also did something like that, if it was in color it wouldn't have been as effective at getting the goyim to tear up in the theaters.
