What kind of 'mon have you wanted to see exist in the Pokémon franchise, any variation for an already existing 'mon, or a whole new animal? Tell me your thoughts, do you want cuter mons, or more realistic ones? Scary or funny? If you could get an outside artist to design a 'mon, who would you hire?
When I was a kid there were loads of rumours about being able to catch a Mewthree. Turns out it was just a pic of Mewtwo wearing that armour from the movie. A guy archived all the old rumours about the original games, it's worth a read: blue-reflections.net/ragecandybar/projects/pokegods/
Personally i just want a rock type gorgon pokemon, something that could make use of glare or even have it's own signature paralyzing move. Closest thing we have to far is Seviper, but that's just an angry snake.
Anthony Peterson
Shit, that Dodrio hits a sweetspot. Flamingoes are neat birds, and Dodrio has been overlooked for some time so he would fit into the Alolan Form archetype.
Brandon Green
well pokemon sage got some very good fakemons. you already posted ballio, i would toss cannon cat and ezio owlditore in there. what i would like to see are more eevee like pokemon, pokemon that have multiple forms
Matthew Scott
I saw this a long time ago and figured it was a fake pokemon for a fake pokemon game. It's a real pokemon.
Ryder White
Every fake pokemon that's been posted here looks like complete ass.
Thomas Moore
duckduckjew
Grayson Rogers
I know some people criticize the new Pokemon for looking like Digimon
But that second one absolutely looks like a Digimon and a fursona
That Dodrio is good though. I do wish that was real. The fact we don't have a flamingo yet is a weird fact to me. They keep saying they're running out of ideas but if you go out and look you'll find tons of weird animals and shit that aren't Pokemon yet and it's a bizarre realization.
Ethan Adams
Why would a flightless savanna bird suddenly change into a waterfowl that can fly just fine?
Kayden Evans
If it's the Alolan version like in the OP image, then it's simply not flightless due to the idea of species divergence that the Alolan forms convey.
Lucas Peterson
OP, all these fakemons you just posted suck except for the Dodrio one.
Step up.
Levi Hughes
Alolan forms aren't supposed to change the entire idea of the pokemon though. They're based on the same thing, just taken in a slightly different direction.
Zachary Martinez
what happened to this guys? are they dead? is the thing still going?, any cease and desist in sight?
Jeremiah Sanders
The hell is Alolan Raichu then?
Dylan Hernandez
Still a shitty electric rat.
Josiah Perry
Then what of Sandshrew, Vulpix, and Marowak, who gain completely different typings?
Easton White
Still based on the same animal as before.
Christian Smith
...
Wyatt Thompson
The only good fakes are the intentionally stupid ones.
Cooper Stewart
What animals? A weird armadillo-shrew hybrid, a kitsune, and whatever a Marowak is supposed to be. A three-headed ostrich turning pink and flying isn't that absurd.
That actually could be a goofy enough idea to work.
Mason Flores
(Former, but I still speak with everybody) dev on the project: It's still being worked on, same as ever. Pic related was done a day or two ago
I unironically like ? and ?!?!
Isaac Ward
Yeah, an emu Dodrio would be more appropriate than a flamingo, since emu's are also big flightless bird
Joseph Nelson
Actually an ostrich suddenly becoming a flamingo would be odd since they're entirely different birds. And before you bring a woodpecker becoming a toucan, they are actually very closely related.
Josiah Ortiz
>not Pokemon Ketchup / Mustard / Mayonnaise
They're also related to kiwis (which they already kind of are), rheas, and cassowaries.
William Watson
I would have loved that Sun Alolan Pikachu. Moon has glaring flaws.
You sound like a faggot hipster.
Jace Lewis
OC coming through. My nigga Pikablu.
Sebastian Morgan
My OC of your OC, Pikablunny.
Anthony Green
You all have autism.
Gavin Gomez
You don't?
Owen Edwards
My OC of your OF of his OC, Piblu.
Josiah Rogers
also while 2.0 hasn't come out yet (we're still on the last touches of the final town), mapping is still going and we're currently working on both route 13 and Vivace.
Fuck off majora
Charles Garcia
Thats a lot of neopets
Benjamin Thomas
… is that a pokemon center/casino?
Nathaniel Barnes
Apparently the sign on top is just a standard billboard. It's supposed to be a Pokemon center
Xavier Gray
Holy shit that's amazing. It's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 level.
Smogon's CAP projects are more often hits than misses for me.

The problem with the Sagemon is that none of them scream "Fuck me, master!" like a shit load of the official pokemon have from the last 4 generations.

I can see at least 5 sagemon I would fuck.
Ian Parker
you know what you have to do now
Landon King
I can't draw or have any creative writing skills if you are referring to making porn.
Christian Adams
I meant name them, dumbass.
Jeremiah Baker
Name them.
What row/column? I'm not seeing it.
Eli Sullivan
Those are just fucking recolors of actual animals You just pasted eyes on shit Those are just palette-swapped people Fucking get your shit together Game Freak I actually like most of these designs, only one that really looks bad to me is growmeo

I feel like the bypedal ice types are worse, I do love the SAGEDex though.
Nicholas Parker
*Quadrupedal
Cameron Sanders
Yep, that's autism
Adrian King
Yeah.
Aiden Young
But wendingo, cubzero and avalynx are fucking great.
Mason Carter
They feel more like furbait than actual mons, honestly. Maybe it's because they aren't in the "Sugimori" artstyle.
Logan Gray
Well, of course most of them are furbait, that was an inevitability simply due to who's making it.
Aaron Barnes

How about a Rooster Pokemon? Make it Fighting/Ground. That good?

wowoman best girl
Camden Scott
Best part of Sun/Moon is no more HM slaves, but subconsciously I've been running a team of 5 instead of 6 for half the game because I'm so used to only picking out 5 that I like with an "empty" slot for the HM slave.
Ryder Jenkins
The next two stages are Pompagoon and Hyekuza.
Camden Jenkins
Here are some of my fakemon
Adam Bailey
Those last two look awful.
Camden Davis
The entire axew line are just ugly pokemon. It's the fucking sideways buck-teeth.
Jonathan Hall
I dunno, I like the second one. It has a simple back/belly colour design with significant parts highlighted by the red.
Dominic Murphy
That'll get fixed eventually, a lot just haven't had new art made by the resident sugi style artist yet, pic related
Oliver Lee
individually if you look at these pokes some are decent but as a whole its a cluster fuck, they all just blend into each other.Official Pokemon, good design or bad, covers a wide spectrum of different shapes. Thats why dumb pokemon like diglet and voltorb are good to break up the monotony of constant quad/bipedal pokemon thaat this list seems to be almost entirely made of
Leo Nelson
I agree. Even if the official designs are shit, they are very varied and "unique*.
These would be good separated into future gens.
Justin Ward
Do you mean like Necronite, Wwispern, Icetope, Atomite? Or are you also including birds, snakes, fish and insects?
Elijah Turner
If I had to pick the ones that really shine it would be axehead-bird first evolution, the entire flash line, and lava lamp squid first evolution. Might be some other good ones there, I just kind of glanced over it. But the majority seem to be uninspired neopet rejects
Nicholas Long
I got a folder full of variations if you're interested.
Angel Diaz
No, I don't have proof, I threw away those cringey fucking drawings the moment I found them during some spring cleaning.
James Price
I don't think variety is too much a problem. When I compare it to things like Nidoking and Zebstrika, I can see pokemon of a variety of shapes and sizes. I think things like Forusk (Alpint) and Gnuru (Psybex) are the problem, where they are clearly meant to be quite large, but look no bigger than the pokemon to either side of them. Only the top few rows look really samey, For 229 'original' pokemon its a pretty good effort.
I mean there's like, 4 egypt themed evolution lines. I can't be mad at that.

I agree a little bit upon further inspection I think it has to do with the placement of certain pokemon, the first few rows being too similar. The sizes, everything looks too similarity and its hard to grasp the scale. And thirdly and most importantly posing, far too many of these pokemon are posed quite similarly, with similar expressions and lack a certain something as a result. It's not until you get to 101 Phlask that ther eis even a pokemon with his mouth open. It's hard to guess the emotions or characteristics of the first 100 pokemon (48-51 is an exception) if they seemingly display none and I think that is what ultimately makes them so bland
Samuel Flores
...
Robert Adams
...
Camden Torres
...
Cooper James
Yeah I think that's the main thing. How a pokemon presents itself can give it a lot of character. Nidoking seems big because its haunched and squat, but its only meant to be four feet tall. Hopefully the creators will realize that before they go too far.

I mean, in our defense, it's not like we designed the pokemon to look relatively larger or smaller then whatever pokemon is abitrarily next to them in the dex order, that'd be retarded. For what it's worth to what says, I agree cubzero looks like a neopet and I had been around back when it was being voted on I probably would have voted against locking it's design in so it could get polished more, same with stuff like Smashiary, Mangetigore and Chlorofin
In any case, it's worth noting that the dex image he posted is actually out of date: Vectol.2 and Paramoth have new designs: Vectol.2 got changed to have more visual unity with Vectol, and Paramoth got more fluff to better show it was based on a Poodle Moth.
Here's also leukoon with it's mouth open, to help you understand why it's part ghost.

Oh man that Dunkleosteus Kyogre is amazing.
It triggers my autism so much that for Dunkywunkyr (as seen in ) moveset/ability wise it's based around Rock Head head smash, rather then Iron jaw bite/fang moves, since Dunkleosteus had one of the highest bite forces in history.
Carson Baker
Probably intentional.
Hey man to be honest I like a lot of the designs and would be very keen to see it finished. I'm just open to conversation on the topic.
Sebastian Miller
Of course.
Also, with 200+ designs, there's bound to be some that any given person won't like. God knows that Eevery day we have criticized each other in devchats over each other having shit taste in regards to everything from designs to map concepts and especially dialog and plot.
John Long

Nobunata from has a move where it basically just vomits up candy from it's own body to act as a beneficial entry hazard on your side of the field so when your next pokemon switches in it gets healed.

Pottle #114 could use very easy fix. It makes no fucking sense for it to be plant living pot. Change it strictly to plant who uses pots like Hermitcrab. It would use it to keep itself in dirt together and crawl around using its roots. At first it would use some shell or thrown away pots and would evolve if given larger living space.
Now it can have 2 different versions with pot and shells and can evolve while holding some pot even through it would be stupid for you to have pot as an item so maybe near some area or when some other pokemon who throws away his shell evolves.
Maybe add him a index entry about the fact it is indigestible from regular plant until some container lands near him and he moves into it.
Figure I'll ask this here. Anyone know if a "relaxed" nature is decent for a mudsdale?
Caught a shiny mudbray and I don't know if a defense boost is a good trade off for speed.
Brayden Martin
Fuck this gay shit. Forcing 2 tangentially related pokemon together is lazy, boring, and doesnt take any skill or effort beyond what it takes to shit on a tablet. The only things that are actually good are the minor variants that keep the pokemons original design concepts intact.
Henry Moore
...
Dylan Torres
>No, I don't have proof, I threw away those cringey fucking drawings the moment I found them during some spring cleaning. Faggot
David Garcia
Fuck, now THESE look good. Wish I'd been there back in the day to contribute with some 'mons I've been thinking of myself. Locked now, too bad.
Luis Martin
It raised the defense and lowers the speed, Mudsdale is pretty new though so I don't know if that will work well with it. With its high damage output you'd almost think it would be better with a nature that raised it's attack or sp, but perhaps getting a defense boost isn't so bad.
Kayden Phillips
designwise, yes. maybe "naturalistic" is a better term for what i want. i didn't mind "my mom's dog".
thats what i expected the jack-o-lanterns to be, actually. at least they learn flamethrower, i think.
Ian Smith
Well he's not wrong.
These are better than what we actually got.
Nathan Watson
It was actually specifically redesigned multiple times to be less furbait, so if it gets your degenerate ass off now you might wanna check out the original designs:
In case anybody wants to browse through everything, all the folders for each line are here:dropbox.com/sh/g0exdjc1rdlkg4z/dZAAdIcVGB though it's missing some recent stuff
Hunter Johnson
I actually prefer that final design much more.
Juan Hall
I like these a lot though they aren't very Sugimori at all, which isn't a bad thing for me but I can see why they went with the cuter designs.
Xavier Allen
Well, the understanding is always that everything gets redrawn to be in sugi style later anyways.
However, we have traditionally been pretty strict about drawing a distinctin between design, pose, and style. So even though sugi has a particular design philosophy for pokemon designs and what the proportions are, that isn't changed when it gets redrawn in sugi style, only rhe shading, highlights, coloring, texturing, etc.
This sometime needs to be stretched since the original artist is just not skilled enough to have it be usable, but as you can imagine the more it's not exact the more likely somebody's autism will flare up and they'll complain so it's usually avoided.
Cooper Jackson
When I first saw this thing I actually checked to see if I was playing a hack or something. So to me this is a Fakemon.
Carson Cox
Is pokemon sage done yet? the demo came out like 2 years ago

It's a regional variant of old pokemon in Sun and Moon.
Parker Price
Never gets old
Leo Williams
That's fucking horrifying but I'd totally use it
Robert Edwards
I'm honestly surprised gamefreak hasn't used the idea of different color schemes or subspecies, like shiny pokemon only x10. kids (and adults) would eat that shit up, and if they didn't have any different stats it would literally just be a cosmetic thing. Imagine if there were 10+ variations to each pokemon in a given generation, you could customize the shit out of your teams.
Connor Cruz
Don't you die on me.
Jayden Mitchell
they kind of did it with Vivillon who had different wings depending on the region you bought the game from
Easton Garcia
Ask /tg/ for DMing advice. They're helpful.

Oliver Rivera
I thought we were posting Pokemon, not Stands
Moth is totally a Digimon, but it is cute
Robert Wright
>Spider reminds me of Spider-chan. >Probably intentional.
As the author of that specific spider I can assure you it was not intentional. There was a proper Spider-chan in the thread that spawned it, but good luck finding that again.
Thomas Thompson
Something about this looks REALLY fucking good, but REALLY fucking bad at the same time. I think it's how cutting edge they look.
It would be cool if you could travel across the ultra beasts dimension and find mons like the ones you posted. They'd be "ultra beasts" instead of Pokémon.
Jack Mitchell
Need more uranium types.
Julian Young
I'd like a radioactive Pokemon but regarding Japan's storied history it'll likely never happen.
Hunter Flores
The coloring looks good. The designs are still crap. Way too many similar looking bipeds. It stinks of furfaggotry or deviantart.
Daniel Martin
It looks like pokemon would return to genII but went opposite direction. Instead of these more complicated cutesy stuff it went for more simple realistic one.
I like it.
Carson Jenkins
I like how retro the designs look, but it does reek of edgy fakemon. There are only 2 dozen or so good designs there in total

I invented Pichu before those faggots at Game Freak. I know your pain.
Hudson King
They better make the next games based off Canada. I need my grass/fire Skunk Cabbage and Jack Pine pokemon
Jack pine is a tree in which its cones only open when exposed to extreme heat(50C+).
Skunk cabbage is a plant which generates its own heat to melt the snow, and thaw the ground around it
Parker Parker
The thing that pisses me off the most about Rapeclown and friends being fake is that they do such a far better job of retaining the starters' characteristics than the real ones. Rowlet is actually pretty much the same, but the fake version looks much cooler and gets a kickass Mothman mega.

Well, for what it's worth I made up Mob Psycho 100 before it came out to a fucking T including the entire cast. The only differences were that in my version Mob was some tall, lanky emo looking kid, his conman teacher was a short gruff looking old guy, it took place in America, and the old guy ran his psychic business from a van. It came to me in a dream, then the anime came out 2 months after.
Salty as I was I still loved the anime… and I normally can't stand animes.
Juan Hill
Dimple is final boss
Isaiah Perez
But Mob Psycho 100 the manga started in 2012.
Ayden Sanders
Oh, well then he beat me to the punch anyways.
Connor Bailey
Megas were pure cancer, and I'm so glad they ditched them. Z-moves are pretty fucking gimmicky too, but at least they're easier to ignore than megashit infesting every aspect of the fucking game.
Ayden King
Are you fucking stupid?
Liam Russell
Are you?
Ayden Sanchez
because it doesn't evolve/mega evolve
The obvious next form is garbodor in a trashcan with the bulletproof ability
Caleb Miller
Motherfucker you infected me, now I'm the one who had a dream about Mob Psycho 100, except it was like an alternate story where Mob became corrupted by his power and turned into an evil prick, but somehow managed to retain his bland Mob-like personality and still looked harmless.
the fuck is happening
Oliver Bell
Oh, I got so distracted answering questions about Sage I forgot to post my favorite fakemon.
Aside from my favorite sage fakemon, which I obviously have a bias for, I really like this dragon/poison basilisk/cocktirace line from RacieB
Jackson Sanders
mang, Sage stuff is highly toyetic
Ryder Diaz
Any more so than regular pokemon?
Jayden Davis
Well, they certainly weren't intended to be.
The design process was essentially that on halfchan /vp/, there was a general where everybody just pitched concepts and designs, and every once in a while there was a survey where everybody voted on the ideas and designs they thought were good enough to keep in, and eventually an entire dex of concepts got voted in, at which point further surveys for design revisions and interpretations of the concept kept occurring until eventually they got voted on to be locked in as the final design, though some got minor changes even after that.
Chase Allen
It's a shame Procyon/Deneb are probably dead, would've liked to see how it would turn out.
Brandon Collins
Really not fan of most of those designs
Only ones I like are pic related. A few more I think have good concepts or ideas, but don't quite work as pokemon or with that particular execution: The Tanuki line for example I think is great but just doesn't work well as a pokemon design., though even a lot of the ones I do like don't look that pokemon esque.
Overall whoever designsed these I think is a lot better at making prevolutions then the final stages
Jackson Rodriguez
this one made me giggle
Mason Nelson
What is some advice that can be given for designing Fakemon? I'm trying to create some for a ROMhack. Also here's a video from 2012 with 315 Fakemon compiled from a bunch of sources. I guess they're okay but some are just bland.
Dylan Bell
Try wildly different shapes, think of how satisfying it would be to catch one, along with how marketable it would be. Don't limit yourself to reality, while also grounding yourself to an objective stance. It's a thin line, but it's possible.
Joseph Johnson
Jesus christ those are adorable. I really do wish we got regional pokemon more often, maybe we can get more of them now that Sun\Moon set a precedent.
Dylan Jackson
...
Jose Phillips
I hope so too. Alolan forms was a fun idea. I think the only reason we don't have even more, is either for the 3rd version or for next generation where they'll pile on a bunch more. I think this was testing the waters to see if people would be receptive to the idea. I certainly am. Not much need to inflate the Pokedex further if Game Freak can prove to do interesting new things with Pokemon we already have.
Carson Cooper
So I just had an autistic idea.
Then short exchange, run away, adventure begins. You can use guns as an item during combat but they're not as affective as the average pokémon skill, during certain events you get the choice to kill the trainer before he throws out his pokéballs. Due to the ban, pokéballs are a big deal and expensive as fuck, getting the possibility of having a second/third/whatever pokémon should be an achievement. Story continues as you do missions for Team Rocket: raid banks, fuck shit up, deal with SWAT equivalent, deal with non-affiliated 'illegal trainers', etc. etc…
Angel Ward
...
Charles Price
Well, it depends what you want to do. Personally, the most important thing to me to making me like a fakemon is that it actually feels like a pokemon. Make them feel like pokemon from a design perspective, don't just make cool monsters. If you put it up next to a bunch of actual pokemon, make sure it feels like it could be one of them.
It's sort of hard to put your finger on, but a lot of fakemon are clearly done in a different style. Not even just in terms of art style, but *design* style.
Also, design them as art first, not as sprites, but be cognizant that they'll show up as and need to look good as sprite
Anthony Thomas
I kind of like this
Tyler Stewart
I wish they all had region variations.
Given pokemon's history of dropping new features out of the next title like meme-gimmicks I doubt it.
Flaming torches aren't as bright as you'd think, user, especially one that's reduced down to the size of a lighter's flame in a pitch black cave.
Zachary Edwards
Geewun designs principles please.
Noah Morales
Decide whether you want it's design to be practical or abstract.
If you want a practical pokemon focus on where it would live, how it would move and act and other things. Physical pokemon are generally more grounded in reality, and their designs are based on practicality. Mudsdale is a great example. It's a work horse, so it's massive. It gets dirty, represented by the hardened mud on it. It's hair is matted because of all the mud, which is stylized as dreads. It's got a black mane to complement it's brown colour scheme, and a tired expression to emphasise that it works a lot. Turtonator is another good example. It's a turtle, but instead of using it's shell as armour it uses it as a weapon. It's shell is yellow because of the sulfur content, which is what allows it to ignite and explode. It's got spikes in it's shell which will fly everywhere like shrapnel. It's barrel-like nose is used as a flamethrower, and emphasizes the theme that the pokemon is armed. It's tail sticks out in front of it's shell so it can balance on it, for extra stability. It has a long neck to turn around and face the enemy. Mimikyu is designed around practicality too. It's a mysterious ghost pokemon hiding in a Pikachu doll. It's face looks hastily drawn on because the ghost literally drew it on. It's tail looks kinda stick-like because it's just a stick held up by the ghost. The holes in it's chest are the ghost's eyeholes.
If you want an abstract pokemon, design it around an idea. Design parts of the pokemon as representations of this idea. Special attackers and Psychic or Ghost types are generally more abstract. The ultra beasts are designed like this, just taken a bit too far. I'd go into detail but I can't think of a good way to describe them properly. Gardevoir's design is a mix of ballroom dancer and angel, Gothitelle's design is a mix of goth lolita fashion and the Flatwoods monster, Celesteela is based of Kaguya, both the story and the rocket series. There aren't as many abstract pokemon designs, and even they try and add some practical aspects to it.
Remember, Pokemon are living things and are adapted to living, except ghost types. Psychic types can look unrealistic because they can just bullshit their way around situations with their powers, and ghosts are abstract representations of things.
Isaac Bailey
Wowoman has to be the best one.
You know, the way things are going, I could see some of these. I mean, we already get pokemon of absolutely retarded things. A fucking lamp is a pokemon, after all.
Easton Nelson
I still dont get why people object to object-based pokemon, when tsukumogami are a well-known thing in japan
Elijah Edwards
That owl leaf starter looks cute as fuck though.
Owen Gutierrez
Don't get me wrong, I love lampent. It's cute. But that's a rather stupid thing to make a pokemon of.
Just doesn't make sense, though, considering pokemon are supposedly their own sort of animal and shit.
Levi Davis
They are pocket monsters, not pocket animals. Magnemite, Voltorb, and other object based pokemon have been around from the start.
Matthew Jenkins
Okay.
Hunter Russell
It's actually not bait user, Pokemon has been streamlined for a very long time now. It's been like this as early as gen 2, then picked up at 3, then crashed harder than before at 4, the slightly picked up at 5, but that's when the damage was done.
That being said, they aren't bad, but they do feel less like real animal and more like obvious toons.

When making a Fakemon Pokedex, how many Pokemon do you tend to go for? I personally tended to make around 130, sometimes going up to 150. A lot of them were shit, but to be honest playing Pokemon again and seeing this thread makes me want to try it again. Doing shit like this triggers my autism like no other, and it would also give me an excuse to draw again and try to get that part of me back.
