What would an American socialism really look like?

How should an American socialism address ethnic, religious, regional, and moral distinctions?

The US would sooner nuke itself.

Like socialism anywhere else.

American Exceptionalism is a nationalist myth. America is not particularly different from any other country. If anything, it's a very orderly country that likes to project the devil-may-care "live free or die" ethos as cover for its true nature.

Zizek actually pointed out this paradox once. In the Cold War, you had the Warsaw Pact nations which projected a front of orderliness to hide their internal chaos opposed to the United States, a country which projected a front of individualist chaos to hide its internal regimented order.

If America Should Go Communist

tl;dr America's technological sophistication and level of education means that something like the soviet union won't happen because it was made from scratch with nothing but peasants as bricks and kulak blood for mortar.

Also no more bubblegum.

I honestly wouldn't care if the richest people of society just got shot to death. I'd be happy with just that as a nice note to cap life on

Most Americans are poor, though.

...

I thought you were referring to Americans since this is a thread about America going socialist.

Oh I am

America survived this long by being exceptional at suppressing worker movements and getting away with literal non-conspiratorial assassinations of movement leaders without getting too much flak. I imagine if a socialist movement arose, it would be in a particular region rather than the whole country at once, which would make it easy for it to be crushed by the rest of the country. Either the military would have to help, in which case I doubt it would be very socialist at all, or it would follow America losing a war and being unable to defend itself against revolution, and considering how powerful America is I can only imagine the situation that allowed for it to happen would be dire for the entire world.

It's the internet that's going to make collectivism possible in the future probably.

explain

Digital theft of massive amounts of currency through transaction, sharing it with the population. People in turn, trust more and more in people who can provide basic money for their needs even if it's illegal going into the future than say, actual violence does.

People used to rob trains for the same reason, the transactions of the rich are hardly safe and set in stone. It's similar logic.

…so a Tankie shithole?

no me gusta

mass killing isn't cool, even if they're rich

...

wtf I hate marxism now

If they relinquish the means of production then they don't have to be killed.

But if they insist on clinging to their stolen wealth it's the wall for them.

Genocide requires a large number of people, not a small number of people.

Unless people are rich because of their genes it wouldn't be genocide.

Now let's be fair, some of them are just rich by inheritance :v)

Hey, were not monsters. majority shareholders and kulaks only.

good point.

Autonomous Republics like the USSR

Fuck off tripshit

plz stop tripfagging
the narcissism will corrupt you

Oh well that's totally a different story

You should have said so

Already has. So much fucking power……..

LONG LIVE THE ST. LOUIS COMMUNE
LONG LIVE THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

America was different from most other countries, but the labor shortage that made wages steadily rise for 150 years finally met its end in the '70s.

I'm aware of that, but the labor shortage doesn't figure anywhere into the concept of American Exceptionalism, which OP was invoking.

The typical ideological explanation for why America was different was greater freedom, God's favor, the individualist ethos, something unique to the "American spirit", so on and so forth.

Wolff is going very much against the grain of American Exceptionalism by suggesting that all that was unique about America was something so mundane as a labor shortage.

This map makes absolutely no sense

one state for the proles

Surely the Central American Republics become part of Mexico again in this fantasy drivel?

And nothing of value would be lost.

Just turn it into Swamp Country.

Oh fuck, I forgot to turn off my trolling flag.

...

Can I have a link to the full talk, if there is? Also, I'd love to hear some examples of these successful companies.

Literally why it collapsed.

GOOD Trotsky that's some GOOD Trotsky right there

Although this board might not like it, we need bourgeois "morality" (what we call idpol; it's better to respect people because that's good business) to continue to exist even as capitalism collapses. Same goes for the economic standard of living, real socialism can only happen in the first world at first.
